Macquarie Asset Management has acquired the final asset in a €190 million logistics real estate portfolio in Poland on behalf of Bayerische Versorgungskammer (BVK), Germany’s largest pension fund.

European Logistics Investment (ELI) has begun construction of its newest warehouse scheme located in Tychy – one of the main logistics areas in the Silesia region in Poland. The project has been awarded the BREEAM certificate at the Excellent level. Park Tychy, developed together with its partner Panattoni, will feature two building complex with 100,000 sqm of logistics space. The first building has already been 100% pre let.

Some companies are choosing to relocate production plants from Asia to Poland to diversify business activity and shorten supply chains. On the other hand, western firms are setting up factories in Poland to bring operating costs down and take advantage of a range of benefits with which individual regions want to attract investors, say experts from Cresa Poland.

Work has begun on the construction of Panattoni Park Wrocław West Gate, which will eventually have an area of around 47,000 sqm. The park’s first tenant will be Schumacher Packaging – a producer of cardboard packaging (including corrugated), which in September is to occupy 5,670 sqm.

Panattoni announces the largest lease in the CEP (courier, express and parcel) sector. The developer is to provide InPost with warehouses in eight locations with a total area of ​​75,500 sqm. The centres are to be built this year.

In Świdnik, near Lublin, a cross-docking terminal of around 5,165 sqm was constructed and has now completed its BREEAM certification with a rating of ‘Very Good’. The centre is partially powered with electricity from renewable energy sources and with the application of sustainable solutions CO2 emissions have been reduced by around 30 pct and water usage has been cut by 67 pct. Almost PLN 50 mln has been invested in the project.

UK investor Aberdeen Standard European Logistics Income PLC (ASLI) has signed an agreement for the acquisition of the Panattoni Lodz City VIII logistics park for €28 million.

In 2020, we saw a significant shift in the perception of warehouses and the role they play in the economy. Investors now see them as highly valuable assets. CTP has acquired 17.9 hectares of land in northern Bucharest for an undisclosed sum. The land was bought from two businessmen who were planning to invest €50 million in a logistics project. 

Central Poland, located at an intersection of Poland’s two main motorways, is one of the largest industrial markets in the country.
