Slovak real estate developer Corwin announced that their Vilharia office project in Ljubljana has been awarded the LEED Platinum pre-certification. This means that the project fulfils the strictest energy efficiency, economy and user wellbeing criteria.

Office building Euro Tower, developed by Cascade Group in central Bucharest, has obtained the first LEED ZERO CARBON certification in Romania. 

Iulius Mall, part of mixed-use project Iulius Town Timișoara, was awarded the LEED GOLD certification by the US Green Building Council as part of the developer’s efforts to line up its portfolio to international sustainability standards.

Generation Park Y, developed by Skanska in Warsaw’s Wola district, has been awarded the LEED Core & Shell certificate at the Platinum level - an international system of building assessment for energy savings and reduction of water consumption. Consequently, it has an impact on reducing carbon dioxide emissions.

Over 300 buildings and real estate properties were certified as ‘green buildings’ between 2010-2020 in Romania, a period that marked the first decade of sustainable development. Romania ranks 3rd among CEE countries, after Poland (1232 certificates) and Czech Republic (422). The next positions are occupied by Hungary (232) and Slovakia (124). The accelerated growth is deemed to continue, as green buildings become a strategic tool in reaching EU Green Deal targets, according to the BuildGreen 2020-2020 Sustainable Development Report.

Real estate consultancy Cushman & Wakefield Echinox will start to assist customers and partners in obtaining international LEED, WELL and BREEAM certificates, both for existing and pipeline office or industrial-logistical buildings. 

In February 2021, the N3 building of GTC’s Green Heart office complex in Belgrade has obtained a LEED Gold certificate, thus finalising the certification process for the whole complex. Completed in 2020, Green Heart comprises five Class A buildings providing 46,300 sqm of office space.

Over 230 real estate projects in Romania have been certified to meet health, safety and sustainability standards and the pandemic has boosted the efforts of developers to meet targets for such ratings, according to Colliers. 

AFI Brașov has obtained the LEED Gold Green Certification as a sustainable project for using technics and technologies for construction, design, and execution with minimum impact on the environment.

Globalworth has announced that since the beginning of 2021 all 22 of the properties in its Polish portfolio use 100% green energy from renewable sources.
