2022 saw an almost complete recovery of Croatia’s tourism industry with only 2% fewer overnight stays than in 2019. Hotels were almost at full capacity (98% open). In the summer season, hotels achieved 5% higher revenues than in 2019, primarily through an increase in occupancy of 25% (to 79%) compared to the 2021 season, which means a 9% gap compared to the occupancy of 2019, CBS International, part of Cushman & Wakefield Group reports..

The global hotel chain has signed a franchise agreement with the owner of Magyar Király Hotel in the regional city of Székesfehérvár. Accor wants its new facility, officially Mercure Hotel Magyar Király, to become the number-one hotel in the city. The deal is effective from Q3 2023 and was advised by Moore Hungary. 

Prague's famous brutalist-style Intercontinental Hotel is undergoing a complete renovation. After the reconstruction, the hotel will operate with sustainability principles and will become part of the Fairmont chain, the daily E15.cz reports without mentioning the price of the planned reconstruction.

Marriott International has agreed to open the first Sheraton hotel in the Hungarian capital. The grand opening is scheduled for June 2023. The new hotel will offer 105 rooms and a medium size conference facility and will be managed by Accent Hotel Management.

The 4-star K+K Elisabeta hotel located in the Bucharest city center has been sold to Lorand and Zsuzsanna Szarvadi, the owners of the Balvanyos Resort & Spa in Covasna for an undisclosed sum. 

The four-star facility called Flow hotel was opened in Inárcs on Thursday and is to welcome conferences and ceremonial events such as weddings. It was financed in total by a private investor. 

Equilor Asset Management, owned by Hungarian developer BDPST Group, will buy the Sofitel complex which consists of a 4-star hotel and an adjacent office building, local news portal index.hu reports.

Marriott Hotels, the signature flag of Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of 30 hotel brands, has opened Tirana Marriott Hotel, the first Marriott Hotel in Albania. The hotel is located next to the multi-purpose complex of the National Arena and within walking distance to governmental offices, international institutions as well as key historical and cultural sites.

Hospitality group Accor will open a new Mercure hotel in Bucharest in the fall of 2023. The new hotel located next to Unirii Square will be operated under a franchise agreement with local company Sab Serv Expres. 

Radisson Hotel Group has opened its 18th hotel in Poland with its first Radisson Blu Resort in Ostróda. Radisson Blu Resort & Conference Center, Ostróda Mazury is located directly on Lake Drwęca in the Masurian Lake District.
