Newgate Investment buys retail park in Bielsko-Biała

A retail park in Bielsko-Biała, which is being built on the site of a Tesco shop on Warszawska Street, has a new owner. Redkom Development, responsible for the construction and commercialisation of the facility, sold the project to Newgate Investment, a company specializing in managing the value of retail properties, especially retail parks. The price has not been disclosed.

Mitiska REIM and Karuzela Holding secure €40 million refinancing

Mitiska REIM has secured a €40 million refinancing with mBank for a portfolio of four Polish food-anchored retail parks. Representing a combined gross leasable area (GLA) of nearly 34,000 sqm, the convenience centres are located in the cities of Września, Turek, Lubliniec and Wodzisław Śląski, and were developed by Mitiska REIM’s Polish partner, Karuzela Holding, and are owned in joint-venture with the FRI 2 fund.

Hungarian state buys back Budapest Airport

After more than a year of intensive negotiations, the sale and purchase agreement for Budapest Airport Zrt. was signed on Thursday, Hungary's Ministry of National Economy said in a statement. The Hungarian state acquired an 80% stake at a purchase price of €3.1 billion (HUF 1,207.5 billion), and the €1.44 billion (HUF 560.93 billion) loan taken out by the previous owners was extended.

ECB cuts interest rate for first time in 5 years

The European Central Bank (ECB) has reduced its main interest rate from 4% to 3.75%, following Canada's rate cut earlier in the week. ECB President Christine Lagarde announced that the outlook for inflation had significantly improved, which enabled the rate cut. However, she warned that inflation would likely stay above the 2% target, averaging 2.5% in 2024 and 2.2% in 2025. The ECB remains committed to keeping its policy restrictive to achieve the inflation target. This rate cut, though anticipated, is seen as a relief for consumers and businesses, aiming to stimulate economic activity by making borrowing cheaper.

New leases

  • Yokogawa Romania has extended its lease agreement for another five years in Building F of YUNITY Park, a business campus owned by Genesis Property. The agreement marks the fourth consecutive renewal for the local subsidiary of the Japanese industrial automation and process control company. Originally signed in 2007, this latest extension brings the total duration of the corporate partnership to more than 20 years.
  • Vastint Romania has secured a new lease agreement with Arcadis Romania for 1,183 sqm of office space in Building A of the Business Garden Bucharest development.
  • Karimpol Polska has signed a major lease agreement with Volkswagen Financial Services at the Skyliner II complex at Rondo Daszyńskiego in Warsaw. The automotive financial services provider will occupy nearly 6,000 sqm of office and retail space in the project's second tower. Following the transaction, the occupancy rate of Skyliner II has reached 50%.

New appointments

  • BNP Paribas Real Estate Poland has expanded its Industrial and Logistics Agency team with the appointments of Joanna Choromańska, formerly of JLL, and Bartosz Wilczyński, previously with CBRE. The new hires bring a combined 34 years of experience in sector sales, lease negotiations, and build-to-suit project delivery to support the division's ongoing growth.
  • Speedwell has expanded its industrial and logistics team with the appointment of Valentin Achim as Leasing and Property Manager for Industrial Developments. Achim brings extensive experience in coordinating commercial and operational activities within the logistics and industrial sectors. In his new role, he will oversee the development and expansion of the company's Spaceplus platform.
  • Colliers has appointed Kata Mazsaroff, Tamás Beck, and Miklós Ecsődi as Equity Partners in Hungary, effective 30 April 2026. Mazsaroff, who joined in 2007, rises to Managing Partner after overseeing a 200 per cent revenue increase since her 2022 appointment as Managing Director. Beck, with Colliers since 1994, has led the Industrial & Logistics division since 2005, facilitating transactions covering 1.9 million sqm of built space and 9.8 million sqm of land. Ecsődi, Head of Occupier Services and Office Agency since joining in 2011, has secured over 450,000 sqm in leases valued above €600 million.
