How long will Budapest’s office market continue to soar?

Developments are ongoing despite the emergence of working from home and Eston forecasts about 160,000 sqm of offices for rent to be put on the market this year, following 230,000 sqm in 2020. Employees in Bucharest get comfortable working from home

Hungary to create flexible home office regulations

Employers may not unilaterally order employees to work from home even in case of a strong resurgence of coronavirus infections and this would require a mutual agreement under new remote work rules that can now be considered final. Home officing would also be supported by a lump sum payment of overhead costs to the tune of HUF 16,100 (around €45) per month, tax-free. There are, however, still question marks regarding health and safety issues, local daily Magyar Nemzet reports.

New leases

  • Almost 5 000 sqm of office space in Skyliner, Karimpol`s investment in Warsaw will be occupied by new tenants – DXC Technology and Luxoft. Both companies are operating in the field of IT services.
  • IT company Precisely has 1,000 sqm with 90 workspaces on the third floor of Cavatina Hall A in Bielsko-Biała. Knight Frank advised the tenant during the negotiations.
  • Brain Park, an office complex developed by Echo Investment will become the new headquarters of PepsiCo GBS Kraków. The tenant will occupy over 5,000 sqm and start operating in the new office in the fourth quarter of 2022.

New appointments

  • Joanna Lewandowska joined 7R as Head of Construction and Design. She will manage a team of professionals involved in the design and architecture of warehouse and industrial buildings and will also supervise the work of project managers responsible for the execution of 7R investments both in Poland and internationally.
  • Katarzyna Chwalbińska-Kusek has joined Savills as Associate Director and ESG & Sustainability Lead in Poland. She has been actively promoting sustainable construction principles for 15 years.
  • Cushman & Wakefield Czech Republic has promoted Lukáš Netolický from the Office team to Partner. Lukáš is Head of Regional Cities CZ at Cushman & Wakefield, leading the firm’s Brno office. His main focus is on the development of its business activities, especially in the office segment.
