In a compelling panel discussion at the recent Bucharest Business Forum, industry leaders explored the complex landscape of modern workplace dynamics, addressing the ongoing debate between remote work and return-to-office strategies.
The conversation highlighted the nuanced challenges facing today's businesses. Ana Dumitrache, moderator and Advisory Board Member of RICS Romania, framed the discussion around two critical ethical approaches: fairness and care. She emphasised that leaders must move beyond uniform policies to create tailored solutions that consider individual employee needs.
Dumitru Pricop-Cosmeanu from TP Romania shared a revealing perspective, noting that "moving employees back to the office was harder than sending them home during the pandemic." His company adopted a gradual hybrid approach, recognising the psychological challenges of reintegrating workers who had become accustomed to remote work.
Catalina Cibotariu from IO Partners brought a pragmatic HR viewpoint, stating that "one size does not fit all" when it comes to workplace policies. She advocated for creating attractive office environments with core business hours and community-building activities to encourage employee engagement.
