Budapest Airport to build new logistics base for DHL Express

Budapest Airport and DHL Express have signed a strategic agreement about the development of a new facility for the Deutsche Post DHL Group company in Hungary. This is the second large-scale investment by Budapest Airport and DP DHL, after the latter’s freight forwarding business units moved into a new facility built in the Airport Business Park in 2013.

Investors may face scarcity of attractive products in CEE

Investment into Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries (excluding Russia) for H1 2016 registered a substantial increase (59%) compared to same period of last year, surpassing €5 billion. Expectations are that for the entire year, investment volumes will reach and exceed the record volumes of 2015 with all CEE countries expected to perform strongly, says CBRE.

Budapest logistics parks sell out quickly

There has been a significant increase in demand for income-producing industrial properties bought for investment purposes in Hungary in the past two years. China's Shanghai Feilo Acoustics owned Inesa Europe purchased more than 16,000 square meters of industrial property under such a deal. The distribution center located at Dunakeszi serves the European customers of one of the largest LED manufacturers in China.

House prices soar by 5% in Budapest

The supply of new apartments in Budapest has increased significantly, 2.5 times, between February and March of 2016, but only a few can move in as the number of apartments with an occupancy permit is limited. The first wave of increase will hit the market in the second half of 2017. The still tight supply and large demand has pushed prices upward; the increase in price per square meter has exceeded 5%, as shown by the analysis of the Budapest Housing Market Report.

New leases

  • 108 Agency has mediated a lease of 7,700 sqm for the company DSV Solutions in Prologis Park Prague-Airport. DSV Solutions provides and manages supply chain solutions.
  • TECH LIGHT, a manufacturer and designer of LED lighting profiles, has relocated to Panattoni A2 Warsaw East Park, situated next to Stary Konik junction near Warsaw. The tenant moved into 1,200 sqm of warehouse and office space already in August. AXI IMMO provided comprehensive advisory services for TECH LIGHT.
  • Eli Lilly has extended its office lease of 900 sqm in Bucharest Business Park. The pharmaceutical company has been a tenant in the project since 2006. The office complex is owned by CA Immo. Real estate consultancy CBRE worked on the lease extension.

New appointments

  • From mid-October this year, Kornél Kalapács is taking up the position of Managing Director of Codic Hungary, the company announced. With around 30 years of experience in real estate development and construction, he will strengthen Codic's Hungarian subsidiary, which will hand over the Green Court Office A building under his management next month.
  • Mateusz Gołembiewski will head up JLL's HR organisation in the CEE and Russia region. He has 15 years of experience in developing company strategies and operations in this field, and will lead the HR teams in Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary and Russia.
  • The Urban Land Institute (ULI) has announced the appointment of Søren Rodian Olsen, managing director of Logicenters at NREP as chair of ULI Poland. He succeeds Dorota Wysokińska-Kuzdra, senior partner at Colliers, and officially began his voluntary two-year term on 1 October 2021.
