90% of Budapest high street retailers ride out pandemic

GTC records €15 million profit despite rental revenue decrease

No improvement visible in Hungary’s construction industry

The latest EBI Construction Activity Report has found that the stagnation of the total value of started construction works has not stopped. Between January and March 2021, construction works in the sector started on HUF 421 billion. This, although not greatly different from the values seen in the previous three quarters, is still the lowest Activity Start indicator of the last two years. Compared to the January-March periods of the previous two years, 2021 started clearly weaker: against the positive Q1 2020, the decline was about 35%, but even over the same period in 2019, there is a 15% decrease.

Panattoni enters the Hungarian market with 2 projects

Panattoni is entering a new market. The company has announced the opening of an office in Hungary, headed by László Kemenes. He will be responsible for the development of speculative and big-box projects in Hungary, from the site acquisition and investment preparation, through to the commercialisation of the projects and their transfer to their eventual tenants. Hungary’s residential market still going strong

Deutsche Hospitality opens new hotel in Budapest

Deutsche Hospitality has opened its first IntercityHotel in Budapest. The 312-room hotel, realised by the Hamburg-based B&L Group, will be Deutsche Hospitality's first property in Hungary. Located right next to Keleti Railway Station, it will also feature resplendent latest generation IntercityHotel interior design by the Milan-based architect Matteo Thun.

New leases

  • Sanofi Romania is relocating its HQ to Bucharest-based Equilibrium 2 office building, developed by Skanska. The company will occupy the 9th floor of the building starting June 2026.
  • ConvergenCE has signed a long-term agreement with Etalon-Informatika Kft., which will set up its new office in the Budapest-based CityZen project on an area of nearly 700 sqm. The company is expected to move in during 2026.
  • Kanał Sportowy, one of Poland’s leading sports media platforms, and Zdrofit, the country’s largest fitness club chain, will continue their presence at Konstruktorska Business Center in Warsaw. Kanał Sportowy will maintain its lease of 512 sqm, while Zdrofit will continue to occupy 1,000 sqm.

New appointments

  • Daniel Orczyk has been named Senior Project Manager at the technical advisory department of Avison Young in Poland. He is a licensed structural engineer and building site manager with over 20 years of experience.
  • Łukasz Meisner has joined Peakside Capital Advisors as Head of Project Management. He will be responsible for the management of Peakside's investment projects in Poland, including overseeing the implementation of key investments within the City Point, Urban Parks, and Peakside Industrial logistics platforms.
  • Peakside Capital Advisors is strengthening its Polish structure, expanding its expertise in investment management and development project execution. Łukasz Meisner has joined the team as Head of Project Management. He will be responsible for the comprehensive management of Peakside's investment projects in Poland, including overseeing the implementation of key investments within the City Point, Urban Parks, and Peakside Industrial logistics platforms.
