CPIPG announces dismissal of US lawsuit

CPI Property Group published an update regarding the lawsuit filed in April 2019 in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. The lawsuit concerned a group of Kingstown companies, Investhold LTD and Verali Limited (who filed a claim against CPIPG and Mr. Radovan Vitek and other parties alleging violations of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act in the United States. On 4 September 2020, the SDNY Court dismissed the claims against all defendants and directed the clerk of court to close the case.

Warimpex increases revenues from office properties

Warimpex achieved a positive operating result (EBITDA) in the first half of 2020 despite losses in the hotel segment due to the coronavirus. This can be attributed primarily to the earnings contribution from the rental of office properties – this segment saw a 15% increase in revenues compared with the prior-year period. Following the posting of property impairments and currency losses, this led to a loss of €21.7 million for the first half of 2020, including a result of minus €3.0 million for the second quarter of 2020.

Flex space operator expects further demand growth

The market for flexible office space has been experiencing dynamic growth for several years. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed a lot of things about our daily lives, also in the office sector, and thus has significantly affected tenant preferences. Immofinanz’s net profit negatively influenced by COVID-19

Trei increases development volume to nearly €1 billion

Trei Real Estate GmbH increased its development volume to €960 million euros during H1 2020. This implies an increase by €60 million euros since year-end 2019 (€900 million). Compared to the prior-year figure (H1 2019: €730 million), the growth actually amounted to €230 million, which equals an increase by 31 percent year on year. A breakdown of the €960 million by type of use shows €175 million in the retail segment and €785 million in the residential segment.

New leases

  • Iulius has attracted Kaufland as an anchor tenant in Family Market Tomești, based in Iași County. The retailer will open a 4,000 sqm hypermarket, while the whole project will have a leasable area of around 16,000 sqm.
  • DHL Express Romania has opened its new operational center at VGP Park Bucharest North in Ștefăneștii de Jos, marking the company's first carbon-neutral facility in the country, following a €5 million investment The 4,130 sqm facility includes 3,604 sqm of warehouse space and 526 sqm of offices, with a maximum sorting capacity of 2,800 items per hour.
  • Industrial developer CTP announced that Moemax, part of the XXXLutz Group, has signed a lease for a 5,300 sqm logistics unit at CTPark Bucharest South.

New appointments

  • At the beginning of September, Ewa Ciołek and Piotr Meleszko were promoted to Senior Leasing Manager. MLP Group, recognising the internal competencies and achievements of its team, emphasises the importance of further improving the efficiency of its leasing operations, which are key to the company's dynamic growth.
  • Avison Young's Investment Advisory team in Poland has welcomed a new member, Katarzyna Sielewicz, who takes the role of Senior Consultant. Katarzyna holds a master’s degree in Finance from the Stockholm University School of Business and completed an exchange semester at Cass Business School in London. She gained international real estate experience working with the global Research and Strategic Advisory team at Cushman & Wakefield (formerly DTZ) in London.
  • Activ Property Services has announced the appointment of Ionuț Grigoraș as Partner in the industrial department. With more than 14 years of experience in the real estate sector, Grigoraș has worked with leading companies such as CTP, WDP, VLParks România, Logicor, P3, MDO, and MLP Group.
