Passerinvest Group, in collaboration with consulting firm EY, conducted a detailed assessment of its buildings in Prague's Brumlovka and Nové Roztyly locations according to EU taxonomy requirements.
The results showed that 92% of buildings meet the criteria of this European legislation for environmentally sustainable investments. In absolute numbers, this represents nearly 200,000 sqm at Brumlovka and another 23,000 sqm at Nové Roztyly.
The remaining 8% of the portfolio consists of a single building scheduled for reconstruction to the same environmental standard. The company applies the same principles to projects under construction, such as the multifunctional Hila building at Brumlovka and the Sequoia office building at Nové Roztyly.
"The portfolio assessment that Passerinvest carried out represents an exceptionally extensive project in the Czech environment. Thanks to the comprehensive approach and work with detailed data, the results can be used not only for reporting, but also for long-term sustainability management of buildings," says Eva Vyskočilová, Senior Manager, EY Audit.
EU taxonomy is a unified European classification system that helps set criteria for evaluating environmentally sustainable activities, including construction and property management, with regard to financing, strategic decision-making and investments. Meeting the requirements is a regulatory obligation that strengthens portfolio value, opens access to green finance, increases transparency and prevents greenwashing.
The assessment focused primarily on building adaptation to climate change. In real estate, energy efficiency, emission reduction, indoor environment quality, sustainable water use, biodiversity protection, climate resilience and overall construction impact on the environment are evaluated. Blue-green infrastructure development, extensive green areas at both Brumlovka and Nové Roztyly, rooftop gardens, heat island prevention measures and thoughtful rainwater management play significant roles in the evaluation.
"We view the assessment of our portfolio according to European taxonomy requirements as a natural part of Passerinvest's long-term strategy. The result confirms that systematic investments in building quality, public space and blue-green infrastructure have real impact. The data obtained is also important groundwork for further improvements and responsible planning of future construction," says Barbora Kovandová, ESG Specialist, Passerinvest Group.
