Warsaw II is a complex of buildings that the company is acquiring as part of the implementation of the Logistics Network Architecture strategic project. The halls will be ready at the end of 2023. Panattoni will deliver the facility.

“The Treasury is investing in the development of Poczta Polska's logistics infrastructure. The Ministry of State Assets decided to recapitalize Poczta Polska last year with PLN 190 million. The subsidy from the reprivatization fund allows for the modernization and construction of logistics centers, as well as their modernization. Thanks to the Logistics Network Architecture project underway, Poczta Polska will be able to compete even more effectively with the largest players in the prospective market for courier and parcel services. Our national operator should be associated with the highest quality of services, and we, as the Ministry, support one of the oldest domestic companies in this" noted Jan Kanthak, Secretary of State at the Ministry of State Assets, who oversees Poczta Polska.

In the vicinity of Radzymin, construction work on a new Poczta Polska sorting facility, the so-called Warsaw II, will begin soon. The official start was the symbolic laying of the cornerstone on December 7, 2022. Guests at the event included Secretary of State at the Ministry of State Assets Jan Kanthak and members of the Poczta Polska Board of Directors - President Krzysztof Falkowski and Vice President Andrzej Bodziony.

“The acquisition of a new logistics facility close to Warsaw will make it possible to handle the growing volume of parcel and pallet shipments, and significantly contribute to the automation of logistics processes. Our investment also means an increase in the efficiency of the Company's entire logistics network. For customers, it means an even higher standard of services, including improvement of such important parameters as timeliness. For Poczta Polska, an unquestionable benefit will also be the optimization of the costs of deliveries processing" emphasizes Krzysztof Falkowski, CEO, Poczta Polska.

In May this year, Poczta Polska and Panattoni signed a contract for the lease of more than 50,000 sqm of operational and logistics space. The general contractor for the complex is Harden. The investment will consist of 2 facilities, designed to function as a distribution hub for parcel and pallet shipments coming from other distribution hubs in the country and our own area of operation, including those sent by bulk customers.

“We are extremely pleased that Poczta Polska has once again placed its trust in Panattoni to carry out its strategic project. We have already delivered space in Kalisz and Białystok, and now it's time for a key location, in the vicinity of the capital. The tenant aims to maintain a competitive position in the e-commerce market, and we are a proven partner for the industry. In Poland alone, we have already completed more than 4 million square meters of space dedicated to online sales. This is a great deal of experience, which pays off in new investments" says Marek Dobrzycki, Managing Director at Panattoni.

The facilities will include a cross-dock warehouse hall of more than 12,000 sqm and a warehouse-operating hall of more than 26,000 sqm. In addition, zones with support functions and technical facilities will be located. The facility's functionality, assumed by the Polish Post, will be completed by securing more than 400 parking spaces located near the operation halls and at the entrance to the facility.

At the same time, proceedings have been launched for the selection of a sorter contractor for the hall under construction. The machine to be purchased by Poczta Polska will be the largest and most modern sorter to date and used for the automatic distribution of courier mail. The machine will be made with "cross-belt" technology. The sorter, equipped with more than 300 chutes (directional, vertical), will allow the dynamic distribution of parcels to the level of delivery points and delivery regions. The high-performance device, as designed, will segregate up to 15,000 shipments per hour. Thanks to the high automation of work, the efficiency of mail segregation will significantly increase, and directly translate into the timeliness of services.

“The automation of the Poczta Polska is gaining momentum. Investments in modern machinery will enable us to compete more effectively in the demanding courier market. Thanks to the projects we are implementing, the scope of work automation will increase, which will translate into the possibility of much faster processing of sent mail. This will benefit both our customers, who expect the highest quality of our services and our employees, who have performed many activities manually so far. It is important to us, as the Board of Directors, that work in postal facilities takes place in the most comfortable conditions possible, following the principles of ergonomics" says Andrzej Bodziony, vice president of the Management Board of Poczta Polska.

As part of the implementation of the Logistics Network Architecture project, in 2023 more new sorters will start working in halls in Wroclaw, Lisi Ogon near Bydgoszcz and Lublin. The logistics network of the Poczta Polska includes 14 regional sorting centres and 13 local sorting centres, which, combined with a network of 7,600 postal outlets, provide the infrastructure base for the development of logistics.
