The high street concept is enjoying great success in cities such as Vienna, Prague and Budapest, but this format has long been a failure in Bratislava. The city is experiencing a massive expansion of retail parks, shopping centres and discount chains, according to Colliers' latest report.

Over the past year, Central Group has acquired approximately 240,000 sqm of new land for CZK 6 billion (€242 million) in seven Prague locations.

The Romanian residential market has seen transactions falling by nearly 9% in the first four months of 2025 compared to the same period in the previous year. In Bucharest, the fall in deals reached 12%, according to data released by Colliers.  

Polish developer Scallier opened a new retail park with a leasable area of 10,000 sqm in Ploiești.

According to local real estate agency Cordon, the Belgrade residential market recorded a total transaction volume of €650 million in the fourth quarter of 2024. This represents a 32.6% increase compared to €490 million in the fourth quarter of 2023, when the market was still affected by a two-year stagnation period. While the volume is objectively high, Cordon notes that the year-on-year comparison should be viewed with caution, as the 2023 figure reflected an exceptionally weak period.  

Immobiliare Grande Distribuzione (IGD) has sold the Winmarkt Crinul Nou shopping centre, located in Alexandria, southern Romania, to a private Romanian investor, for €3.3 million.

BIG Poland has confirmed that a new 2,900 sqm building for Bricomarché will open at BIG Myszków retail park later this year. The company is also planning a further expansion of 6,000 sqm of retail space. The announcements were made during a community event held to mark the rebranding of the retail park.

The Vlněna complex developed by CTP in the centre of Brno is expanding its tenant portfolio with companies from the world of technology. 

From June 2025, Cushman & Wakefield is taking over the management and leasing of the 65,000 sqm Aupark shopping centre in Bratislava.

Aventin Shopping Jihlava, one of the largest retail parks in the Czech Republic, has become part of the ZDR Investments Master Fund portfolio.
