Marius Persenea, COO of Romanian developer Iulius, spoke with Property Forum about the macroeconomic picture of the country going into 2023 and the potential of regional cities to attract property investments on the medium and long term.

Industrial and logistics developer CTP has announced the expansion of CTPark Bucharest South through the construction of a new warehouse set to almost double the total leasable area of the project to around 150,000 sqm. 

Marian Roman has been appointed Managing Director of Europolis Office, the office division of Pavăl Holding. The move came after the holding took over seven Bucharest-based office projects from CA Immo.

Grocery retailer Kaufland has inaugurated in Bucharest a new hypermarket spanning 5,000 sqm. Following the latest opening, the European network of the retailer climbed to 1,500 units.

With a rent level of €53/sqm/month on Calea Victoriei, the main retail street of the city, Bucharest remains in the top 50 cities analyzed worldwide and in position 46 out of 53 in the EMEA ranking, just behind Warsaw, according to a report by real estate consultancy Cushman & Wakefield Echinox. 

Hungarian property investor Indotek Group is extending its facelift program to its international retail portfolio, with the renewal of the nearly 50,000 sqm Promenada Mall in Romania. The company is carrying out the modernization of the shopping centre in Târgu Mureș in two phases. 

German company Diehl Controls, a high-tech manufacturer, has leased 18,000 sqm in CTPark Brașov for a research and development centre as well as a production facility. This is the first tenant attracted by CTP in the new project spanning 50,000 sqm that will be completed in the second half of 2024. 

Authorizations of new residential developments in Bucharest were down in the first semester by one third compared with the same period of 2021 but hit a 14-year record with a permitted volume of 350,000 sqm in July alone, shows data from Colliers Romania. 

CA Immo has successfully signed the sale of seven office buildings in Bucharest. As CBRE Romania confirmed to Property Forum, the buyer is Pavăl Holding, the investment vehicle of the Pavăl family which also owns Dedeman, the biggest Romanian DIY chain. This transaction marks CA Immo's exit from the Romanian market.
