Poland’s retail stock grows despite COVID-19

In Q1 2020, approximately 50,000 sqm of modern retail space was delivered to the market in Poland. The construction of four schemes was completed: Galeria Chełm (17,500 sqm), Stop Shop Siedlce (14,100 sqm), Galeria Kupiecka in Otwock (10,000 sqm) and Vendo Park Jawor (6,700 sqm). However, due to the onset of the coronavirus epidemic, the new shopping centres have limited possibilities to serve consumers, in the same as all large retails facilities in Poland.

Savills: COVID-19’s impact on global markets less negative now

In its latest global sentiment survey among its researchers around the world of the impact of Covid-19, Savills says that the outlook has improved slightly, with 19% of countries reporting a severe negative impact on their real estate markets due to the pandemic – an improvement compared to 29% in its previous survey conducted on 31st March - and 74% describing a moderate negative impact (opposed to 67% at end of March).

New leases

  • DB Logistic has signed a new lease agreement at SEGRO Logistics Park Gliwice. The company has decided to expand occupied space by a third to a total of nearly 5,000 sqm.
  • Low-cost airline flydubai has opened a new office Bucharest-based Eminescu Offices, in a deal brokered by Cushman & Wakefield Echinox.
  • LCP Properties has finalised two further leases for M Park Pionki. The CCC shoe shop will occupy 400 sqm in the building, while the area of the Xtreme Fitness gym will reach 600 sqm.

New appointments

  • Prologis' Warsaw team has gained a new director. As of 1st of April, Marzena Tkaczuk has joined the team of development experts. As Capital Deployment Director, she will be responsible in particular for the implementation of build-to-suit projects.
  • Hagag Development Europe has named Ana-Maria Nemțanu as Leasing Director. She has over 17 years’ worth of experience in the local real estate industry.
  • Emilia Dębowska has been promoted to the position of Head of Sustainability Europe of Panattoni. In her new role, she will be responsible for Panattoni’s integrated sustainable development strategy encompassing both the company’s business goals and the development of its projects in Europe for every country in which the developer is active.
