Budapest industrial property market strengthens in 2015

Annual total leasing activity on the Budapest industrial property market equated to 353,220 sq m in 2015, which was just slightly (5.5%) below the 2014 record volume. The vacancy rate declined 5 percentage points during the year, bottoming out at 10.6% at the end of 2015.

The value of industrial properties in Central Europe is growing

Both the development and take-up of industrial parks in Central Europe is continuing and slightly accelerating in comparison with last year, according to research from Cushman & Wakefield. The appetite for investing in commercial properties is also increasing, with a shortage on the supply side making buyers willing to pay more. This trend is most obvious for logistic and production facilities. Cushman & Wakefield’s report covers Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia and Romania.

New leases

  • Baskervill, an international architectural, engineering, and design firm, opened up its office in Gdańsk. A 200-sqm space is located in Officyna building.
  • ZST (Zintegrowane Systemy Techniczne) has increased the size of its head office in the Batory I office building by 400 sqm. As a result of the expansion, the Warsaw office building owned and managed by Globalworth Poland is now fully leased.
  • LSI Software, a provider of advanced IT systems has become a new tenant of the Oxygen Park office complex in Warsaw. The company has leased 400 sqm of office space, moving to the building owned by Golden Star Group from another site, also located on Aleje Jerozolimskie.

New appointments

  • The Management Board of Polski Holding Nieruchomości S.A. has appointed Maciej Klukowski as a member of the Management Board for Real Estate Asset Management.
  • Maciej Kamiński joins the Axi Immo Services team as Head Of Business Development. His main task will be formulating and implementing business development strategies and negotiating and concluding contracts in the company's business area.
  • Polski Związek Firm Deweloperskich (Polish Association of Property Developers) elected new authorities at its general meeting in Katowice. Maciej Wandzel was elected chairman of the board. He will replace Grzegorz Kiełpsz, who became honorary president of the PZFD.
