IHG to open of new Holiday Inn in Warsaw

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), one of the world’s leading hotel companies, has announced the signing of Holiday Inn Warsaw West Station. The hotel will be developed with franchisees VHM Hotel Management, owned by the Satoria Group SA, and investors Capital Park.

Strabag puts Bucharest hotel on the market

Owner Strabag has put the five-star JW Marriott Hotel on the market, zf.ro reports. The potential sale is reported to have attracted interest from various foreign and local investors, including the Paval brothers, the owners of DIY retailer Dedeman. The value of the 402-room hotel is estimated to be around €100 million.

CEE hotel investment market continues to boom

The investment volume achieved in 2016 totalled almost €1.2 billion with 46 transactions recorded in core CEE hotel investment markets. In comparison, 2015 reached just over €700 million with 45 transactions. Austria was the star performer with almost €800 million transacted, which made up 67% of the total investment volume. In other CEE markets volume was lower than in 2015 with a particular decline in Poland which more than halved in volume. The Czech Republic accounted for 18% of total CEE investment share; most of the investment took place in Prague which saw 7 transactions including the Hilton Old Town, Park Hotel and Chopin Hotel.

While the city's hotel market may yet to fully recover from the financial crisis, it has made tremendous progress in recent years, reporting upward trends in key performance indicators and growing investor interest.

Radisson Red to open in Kraków

The Rezidor Hotel Group, a member of international Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, has announced the signing of the first Radisson RED in the Central Europe. The newly built Radisson RED Krakow is expected to be completed by fall of 2019.

Warimpex sells 8 CEE hotels to Thai investor

Warimpex announced the partial sale of its hotel portfolio to Thai investor U City Public Company Limited (U City). The transaction includes eight hotel participations – two of which are partially (50 per cent) owned by UBM Development AG (UBM) – which comprise approximately 50 percent of Warimpex's total real estate assets and which have a property value of approximately €180 million (excluding the stakes of UBM in that portfolio).

Orbis to sell two Polish hotels

Orbis has concluded a preliminary agreement for the sale of two Polish hotels, Mercure Jelenia Góra and Mercure Karpacz Resort for a total net price of app. €6.1 million (PLN26.5 million) to an individual investor.

Accor buys Sofitel Budapest Chain Bridge

Accor, the majority shareholder of Orbis, exercised its buy-out option right over the Sofitel Budapest Chain Bridge hotel, located in Budapest, with a buy-out date of 31 May 2017. The value of the transaction has been estimated at €44 million.

Deutsche Hospitality to open its first CEE hotel in Budapest

Deutsche Hospitality’s first hotel CEE hotel is set to open in by 2019. IntercityHotel Budapest will be located in a newly constructed building in forint of the City’s Eastern Railway Station (Keleti pályaudvar). It will have 300 rooms, a restaurant, a bar, a conference area and an underground car park with 200 spaces.

New leases

  • Axi Immo decided to renew its office leases in Warsaw and Katowice. The leased area in Warsaw has remained unchanged while the Silesian office at Muchowiec Active Park has been enlarged. Both venues have been modified in order to meet the strictest safety standards and accommodate a hybrid working model.
  • Raben Logistics Polska has moved into Panattoni Park Gdańsk Airport. The logistics operator will make use of a number of solutions dedicated to specialised logistic operations, which are to be conducted on 7,560 sqm of warehouse space.
  • 108 Agency has leased 900 sqm of industrial space to Czech logistic company HRAL in Pilsen Borská pole and the new pick-up point for IKEA was opened there.

New appointments

  • Adrian Bojczuk has joined Tétris' Polish office to take on the newly created position – EMEA Investors and Landlords Client Development Director. He will work closely with the management and business development teams in each country, as well as with the JLL Investor team in EMEA.
  • Savills has strengthened its Office Agency in Poland with the appointment of Marcin Sabowicz and its Industrial Agency with Adam Włochyński.
  • Skanska has named Aurelia Luca as Executive Vice President for Operations in Hungary and Romania. She has previously managed the Romanian operations of the developer. Luca has more than 20 years’ worth of experience in real estate.
