Waberer’s Group is developing a nearly 22,000 sqm multifunctional logistics centre in Debrecen. Construction began in November 2024, with the first column erected in April this year. By August, the facility had reached the shell stage, and operations are scheduled to start in Q4 2025. The new hub will offer fully customisable storage and logistics services, strengthening supply chains across Eastern Hungary and neighbouring regions.

Located in the North-West Industrial Zone, the complex will benefit from Debrecen’s strategic position and strong economic growth, supported by major automotive investments including BMW’s new plant. The site is just 15 minutes from Debrecen International Airport, 200 metres from the M35 motorway junction, and close to the intermodal container terminal, enabling efficient road, rail and air freight connections.

“The new HUF 9 billion investment leverages Debrecen’s strategic location and dynamic development. With the proximity of the intermodal terminal, we can offer fast, combined transport solutions to our partners,” said György Szucsány, Property Development Director at Waberer’s Group. He added that the new facility will operate as a regional smart hub, providing tailored logistics solutions to support clients’ competitiveness, sustainable growth and cost efficiency.

The development will feature versatile facilities including standard, chilled and frozen warehouses, areas for lithium-ion battery storage, high-quality offices, a customs yard and parking. Sustainability and ESG criteria are central to the design, targeting a BREEAM “Very Good” rating and high energy efficiency, supported by heat pump systems, a 250 kW rooftop solar installation, EV chargers and smart building management systems.

The Debrecen hub forms part of Waberer’s long-term growth strategy to invest at least €400 million by 2032, creating a modern National Logistics Network. The company currently manages almost 250,000 sqm of warehouse space and provides in-house logistics services on an additional 200,000 sqm.

Waberer’s Group is one of Europe’s leading road logistics operators with its own fleet and Hungary’s largest integrated logistics service provider. The company’s shares have been listed on the Budapest Stock Exchange’s premium category since 2017.
