Penta Investments closed 2017 with a profit of €236 million and its portfolio companies' total assets grew by 6 % to €9 billion. Fortuna, Dr.Max , Prima banka and Privatbanka were the most profitable companies, Penta Real Estate's development activities also contributed to the success. The largest expenditure was allocated for investment in the retail, real estate, healthcare and manufacturing sectors.

In 2017 Penta started the construction of Sky Park, a residential complex in Bratislava designed by Zaha Hadid, the Churchill and SmíchOff office projects in Prague. The developer completed Waltrovka Mechanica in Prague and BCT2 in Košice. Penta’s first office project in Poland, the D48 building in Warsaw was also completed. The group’s Polish assets, which include multimedia retailer Empik, now account for 24 percent of its net income. Last year it invested € 100 million in upgrading Empik’s sales network and e-commerce channels.

"We are very satisfied with the development of our investment portfolio in Poland. Good results mean that the share of the Polish portfolio in the entire group increased and amounted to around 17 pct. At the same time, Poland accounts for one-third of all jobs in Penta's portfolio companies. The largest investments for Penta are Empik Group, the Dr. Max pharmacy chain, Fortuna, Iglotex and EMC Instytut Medyczny. We are interested in the further development of all key Polish investments and are searching for new projects," commented Łukasz Waszak, the head of Penta Investments in Poland.

The carbon cost is already in your building. You just can't see it yet

by Property Forum
A structural shift is rewriting the financial logic of European commercial real estate. It isn't being driven by ESG pressure or voluntary sustainability labels. It's being driven by regulation — and the numbers are concrete enough that ignoring them is becoming a financial risk. A recent white paper by workcloud24 traces the mechanism in detail: how the operational energy and CO₂ performance of a building transmits into net operating income, asset value, and financing conditions. The argument isn't that green buildings are virtuous. It's that inefficient buildings are becoming measurably more expensive to own, operate, and finance.
