SEE construction markets set to record further expansion until 2023

In the first year of the pandemic, the construction market of the SEE region as a whole remained in the positive, and further expansion is expected until 2023. The only exception is Bulgaria where a harsh transition is foreseen for 2023 when the 2014-2020 EU programming period ends financially. The massive growth experienced in the years before 2020 is not anticipated to return. around 3% growth is projected for 2021 and 2022, and a 3% drop for 2023. The countries with the largest cumulated growth on the forecast horizon are Croatia and Serbia, according to the Eastern European Construction Forecasting Association’s 2021 Summer Construction Forecast Report.

NEPI sells €61 million Serbian retail portfolio to BIG CEE

Real estate services platform Novaston was an exclusive support agent in the sales process of two retail properties in Serbia between two influential investors in the Balkan region: NEPI Rockcastle and BIG CEE. The binding agreement with the total consideration of the approx. €61 million euros for retail properties Kragujevac Plaza Shopping mall (with a GLA of 22,300 sqm) and Krusevac retail park (with a GLA of 8,600 sqm) was signed in June.

New leases

  • Reka Rubber Polska, manufacturer of rubber products, will double its lease at MLP Poznań West to close to 4,000 sqm. The company is expected to move into the new facility in the second quarter of 2023.
  • Intersport will open a new large outlet in the recently refurbished GOBUDA Mall in Budapest in Q3 2023. The firm joins German retailer Wellensteyn and Hungarian retailer Budmil, both started to trade there in March. A new Wok'n Go restaurant will be available in the mall in the Summer.
  • Wolt has leased office space in Warsaw's Lumen building. As a result of the transaction, the new tenant has taken nearly 900 sqm. The office building in the centre of Warsaw is owned and managed by Globalworth Poland.

New appointments

  • Jacek Kostrzewski, Managing Director of Gleeds Poland, has been appointed as a Member of the company's Management Board, effective 7th of March, 2023. Kostrzewski is responsible for shaping the company's strategy, managing its operations and further developing the company on the Polish market in terms of current, as well as new services and sectors.
  • CPI Property Group is expanding its retail leasing department. Dariusz Kafara has been appointed as the new Leasing Manager. At the Warsaw branch of the company, Dariusz is responsible for maintaining the maximum level of commercialisation in two retail park chains from the group's portfolio - CityMarket and STOP SHOP.
  • Brian Nyeng Olesen, formerly head of commercial at the Salling Group, has been appointed as the new managing director of Netto Polska. The position was previously held by Hugo Mesquita.
