When will Poland reclaim the throne?

New brands to enter the Romanian hotel market

The hotel market in Romania could become more diverse throughout the next year as a result of new brands entering the market by means of leasing or partnership contracts with real estate developers as an alternative to the management or franchise contracts. Such a business model will lead to the relaunch of the hotel market and will offer, at the same time, the possibility for real estate developers to diversify their portfolio, according to Colliers International.

Radisson Blu Bucharest to be sold for over €177 million

Israeli-held Elbit Imaging announced that it has signed a non-binding letter of intent with an international investment fund to sell its entire shareholding in a company owning the Radisson Complex in Bucharest, based on a property value of approximately €177.5 million.

AFI Europe Romania publishes H1 2017 financial results

AFI Europe Romania published its Q2 and H1 2017 financial results, generating a Net Operating Income (NOI) from its income producing assets in Romania of €12.5 million in Q2 and close to €25 million in H1, representing respectively 10.4% and 11.5% higher results compared to the same periods in 2016.

AFI Europe starts new project in Brasov

AFI Brasov has recently obtained the construction permit and will be the third shopping center AFI Romania is developing in Romania. The shopping center will offer a total gross leasable area of 45,000 sqm, 80% of which is already leased, that will be combined with two additional Class A office towers totalling 25,000 sqm GLA. The overall investment for the mall and first office building is estimated to be over €120 million. The entire project is developed to be LEED Gold certified as a green building.

Globalworth completes Green Court acquisition in Bucharest

Globalworth Real Estate Investments announced the completion of the previously announced acquisition of Green Court Bucharest Building C. The transaction was effected through the acquisition of 100% of the shares of SPC Epsilon Property Development Company s.r.l., the company owning the asset, for a consideration paid to Skanska of approximately €38 million.

Solid growth on the Romanian industrial market

Gross take-up on the Romanian industrial market grew by 54% in H1 2017, compared with the same period of 2016, to 350,000 sqm. According to JLL Romania, the total demand for industrial space reached 180,000 sqm in the second quarter, a comparable level with the one registered in the first quarter of this year.

New leases

  • Uni-logistics, which specializes in sea, rail and air freight forwarding and road transport, has leased 5,825 sqm of warehouse and office space in Panattoni Park Tricity East VI in Poland. Real estate advisory firm Cresa Poland assisted the tenant during negotiations.
  • Anritsu, the leading Japanese company producing high-speed network testing and measuring equipment, has extended its lease of 800 sqm in Globalworth Tower for another 7 years. The office building is located in Bucharest’s business district.
  • Mallson Polska has acquired new chain tenants to the Retail Park in Grodzisk Mazowiecki in Poland - the international DEALZ chain, which is part of the Pepco Group, and the popular TEDi brand. Both stores will occupy over 1,200 sq m GLA in total.

New appointments

  • Paweł Suracki joined Colliers as the Investment Services Director. He will be responsible for managing sales and purchasing processes on behalf of Colliers' clients and for establishing and maintaining relationships with potential and current Colliers' partners in Poland.
  • Avison Young has announced a key change to its directors’ team in Budapest with the arrival of Martina Cifer at the helm of its Office Leasing department. In her new capacity, she shall oversee both the company's Landlord and Tenant Representation divisions.
  • Łukasz Czajkowski joins the team of JLL Poland as Business Services Lead in Tenant Representation Department. He will be responsible for enhancing relations with the BSS sector.
