Prague to see new hotel conversions

The Czech hospitality market has been achieving above-average performance rates thanks to a steadily growing number of tourists. This has had a positive effect on hospitality properties whose yields ranging between 6% and 7% are noticeably higher than the yields in other commercial sectors, specifically retail, office and industrial. They are also attractive with rents guaranteed for a long time. As a result, converting office space into hospitality facilities is becoming a frequent choice among both domestic and international investors. Czech operators can compete with foreign ones quite capably and tend to be the preferred choice for hotel owners. Just about 14% of the local market operators are international brands.

World’s ultra-wealthy population increases by 10%

Knight Frank has launched The Wealth Report, a study on global wealth. This year’s edition shows that the number of ultra-wealthy people (those with net assets of $50 million or more) rose by 10% in 2017 – taking the global population to 129,730, with a combined worth of $26.4 trillion.

Warsaw to be fully revitalised by 2020

Warsaw, Poland’s capital and largest city, has a population of more than 1.75 million. It is also the country’s biggest labour market and home to many university-level schools with a strong R&D sector. It boasts a relatively low unemployment rate which stood at 5.6% at year-end 2017 and the highest gross monthly salary averaging €1,300 (PLN 5,432). 500,000 sqm leased by business services centres in Poland

EPP set to meet the challenges of e-commerce

EPP published its financial results for the full-year of 2017. During the period, the distributable income was at €76.6 million, exceeding the forecasts. At the same time, the company kept building its strong presence in Poland’s key cities, while EPP-owned properties enjoyed growing footfall and increasing sales. New leases

  • Activ Property Services brokered the transaction in which moveX leased 3,300 sqm of modern logistics space within the Mega Company Park in Chiajna, near Bucharest.
  • The Polish branch of Lufthansa Technik AG, a global provider of maintenance, repair and overhaul services for civil aviation, has joined the group of tenants at the Infinity office building in Wrocław. The company has leased over 860 sqm of office space in the building, in the heart of the city on ul. Legnicka. Lufthansa Technik AG will move into its new headquarters in April 2026. The lease was signed for seven years.
  • Fortress Logistics Real Estate, part of South African global investment platform, has set up office in the third floor of the Metropolitan building on Piłsudski Square. The Warsaw office will overlook the Ministry of Culture and the Raffles Europejski Hotel.

New appointments

  • Romanian developer Redport has appointed Sorin Ioan Blaga as COO. In recent years, Blaga has served as CEO of Liebrecht & wooD Romania, managing real estate developments with a combined value of several hundred million euros, and as COO & Co-CEO of The Concept Group.
  • From mid-October, László Csapó will take up the position of Director of Business Development at Danubius Hotels Zrt. He succeeds Andrea Róna, who had held the position since 2022.
  • Cushman & Wakefield Echinox has named Gabriel Vințe as Business Development Manager within the Project & Development Services (PDS) department. He will also oversee the business line dedicated to sustainability services. Vințe has over 21 years of experience gained in renowned companies across sectors such as financial services, retail, residential, and consultancy.
