The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has appointed Justin Young as its new CEO, tasked with managing the ongoing transformation of the organization that includes the delivery of excellent experience for staff, members, and stakeholders. He will assume the new role as of July 5, replacing Richard Collins, who was appointed interim CEO back in October 2021 following the reforms recommended by the Levitt report. 

On the occasion of Property Forum’s Living Investment Forum 2023 and under the umbrella of the RICS CEE residential working group, an online survey was conducted among large residential developers and management companies from Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Romania with help from industry organisations and RICS professional network to get insight on what importance ESG considerations play in the residential sector in the CEE region. In the survey, 80% of respondents claimed that ESG is an important factor in their business decisions at the “strategy level”.

The Q4 2021 results of the RICS Global Commercial Property Monitor indicate a continued improvement in market sentiment across Europe compared to the previous quarters, with progress particularly evident on the investment side of the market. That said, conditions remain polarised at the sector level, with the latest feedback still signalling a challenging set of circumstances for retail while industrials continue to post robust expectations for the twelve months ahead.

Real estate valuers must work to the highest standards as they play a critical role in supporting markets by creating consistency and transparency. David Dušek (Czech Banking Association), Barbora Rýdlová (VŠE – Prague University of Economics and Business) and Petr Polák (Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic) talked to Property Forum about the current state of the valuation profession and the challenges expert valuers face on the Czech market.

Commercial property is viewed as having below-average risk levels in most CEE countries. Revenues from different asset classes are expected to recover to pre-COVID levels most rapidly in Poland, according to the RICS Global Commercial Property Monitor for Q1 2021.
