We have previously published insights on the recovery efforts in Ukraine, and we would like to share some remarkable examples of how commercial projects damaged by missile attacks are being rebuilt. Shopping malls, office buildings, and logistics centres are often prime targets during hostilities, yet Ukrainian businesses are showcasing extraordinary resilience as evidenced in this summary prepared by the Ukrainian Real Estate Club for Property Forum.

Recovery in Ukraine began after the first months of the war. Without waiting for the war to end, the authorities and the population decided to restore both civilian and commercial facilities that had been damaged or destroyed during the hostilities. Today, this is a well-controlled and organized process of reconstruction and renovation, funded by the state, along with the help of international organizations, and by the population's efforts in the case of damaged housing. The Ukrainian Real Estate Club has collected information on specific areas of reconstruction for Property Forum, from the restoration of critical infrastructure to socially oriented projects such as schools and medical facilities.

On 15-16 May, the Ukrainian Construction Congress was held in Kyiv, with the key topic of rebuilding Ukraine in a barrier-free and inclusive manner. As part of the concept of rebuilding Ukraine, the Steel Dream Bakhmut concept plan was presented. According to the State Employment Service, as of September 1, 2023, the number of vacancies in the construction industry exceeded the number of registered unemployed. Representatives of the largest developers in the capital speak of a shortage of workers. Olga Solovei summarised what is happening in the labour market in the construction sector of Ukraine in an article prepared by the Ukrainian Real Estate Club for Property Forum.

Property developer Finep has sold a house with rental apartments in Prague 9 to Mint's residential fund. The former Veltex building in Poděbradská Street is expected to bring mainly small apartments to the rental housing market within about two years. According to the daily e15.cz, the transaction is worth almost CZK 1 billion (around €40 million). 

PURE Hub is a new initiative connecting businesses and institutions, aiming at the reconstruction of Ukraine and supporting Ukrainian investors in Poland. 

In March-April 2023, the Ukrainian Real Estate Club conducted a survey of almost 100 representatives of Ukrainian companies that continue to operate in the market and do business during the war. Of course, all market participants, regardless of their region of operation, felt the negative economic consequences. Despite this, the market is rather optimistic and proactive, as evidenced by the survey results, Olga Solovei (URE Club) reports for Property Forum.

The scale of the destruction suffered by Ukraine as a result of the war is difficult to comprehend. The housing stock has been severely damaged, with Ernst & Young's research indicating that the scale of damage to Ukrainian real estate exceeds the volume of all new housing commissioned over the past seven years. No wonder that speaking about the Ukraine Recovery Program, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal noted that it will be the largest reconstruction project since World War II. The Ukrainian Real Estate Club and Property Times summarised what is known about the program in an article prepared for Property Forum.

The event will be held in Warsaw, Poland on 15-16 February 2023.

Another residential project worth more than a billion crowns (€41 million) is being completed in Prague. This time PSN is building 150 luxury lofts in the former Microna aerospace factory in Prague's Modřany district. The Vanguard project is expected to be completed next year, PSN CEO Max Skala said.
