Decarbonization of the construction sector plays a crucial role in achieving climate goals, as the real estate market is responsible for 38% of global CO2 emissions, according to UN data. In the case of new buildings, especially industrial ones, eco-friendly solutions have become the new standard. In fact, it’s often required by investors, says Marcin Kosieniak, MEP design specialist and co-owner of the PM Projekt construction design office, and expert of the RRJ Group.

This is an ecological certification that confirms the standard of buildings in terms of sustainability and environmental friendliness. With BREEAM certification, UBM is currently building the Arcus City residential complex in the Prague-Reporyje district and the Astrid Garden residential project in Holešovice, Prague 7.

Business park Dageco Expoziției Estate is among the first the first office buildings in Bucharest that will produce renewable energy after the installation of 260 photovoltaic panels on the roof. The clean energy will also power two car charging stations.

Garbe Industrial Real Estate is moving ahead with its Europe-wide expansion, benefiting from the persistently strong demand for logistics space. Panattoni has received an "Outstanding" rating under the BREEAM International New Construction system for Panattoni Park Szczecin III (halls A and B). This is the first such high level of certification in the industrial real estate market in Poland for a newly built investment. Its implementation was preceded by detailed life-cycle cost (LCC) and life-cycle analysis (LCA) of the facility for a period of 60 years. During construction, energy and water consumption were carefully monitored, harmful CO2 emissions were minimized, and thermal imaging was performed upon completion. The halls have been adapted to climate change and a possible change of use in the future. The project is located just 500 meters from public transportation and is accessible to people with disabilities.

The Saski Crescent office building, located in Warsaw, at the intersection of Marszłakowska and Królewska streets, will offer more than 15,000 sqm of office space after renovation. The procedure will be completed in 2024. 

Zuzanna Kurek, Investor Relations Manager and ESG Committee Member of One United Properties, spoke with Property Forum about the ESG agenda of the Romanian developer and its role in growing the value of the company. Moreover, she also discussed how sustainability is becoming a strategic element in the developer’s negotiations for funding with banks and capital market investors.
