OTP Group to start construction of Emonika centre in Ljubljana

Mendota Invest, OTP Group's subsidiary has received a final building permit for a mixed-use complex at the heart of the Slovenian capital. Construction work will begin in March. The estimated value of the entire investment is more than €350 million. The entire project is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

The city of Ljubljana is expected to see some major urban change by 2025. As it was announced last month, a huge mixed-use project will be built next to the city’s planned new transportation hub, including a hotel, a shopping centre, offices and apartments. The Emonika project, which has a long history, will be developed by Mendota Invest, owned by Hungary’s OTP Real Estate Investment Fund. €500 million megaproject to create new commercial hub in Ljubljana

In Ljubljana, a huge mixed-use project will see the creation of a new railway station, a new bus station, a hotel, a shopping centre, offices and apartments as part of the Emonika project. The public infrastructure project will be complemented by a private development by Mendota Invest, owned by Hungary’s OTP Real Estate Investment Fund. The project, which is worth nearly €500 million, was presented in Ljubljana by Sándor Csányi, CEO of OTP, Jernej Vrtovec, Slovenia’s Minister of Infrastructure, Zorán Janković, Mayor of Ljubljana, Dusan Mes, CEO of the Slovenian Railways and Janez Kozelj, Deputy Mayor of Ljubljana, Hungarian business daily Portfolio reports.

New leases

  • LEGO Group has announced plans to open its eighth store in Poland in the summer of 2025. The new store will be located in Kraków’s Bonarka Shopping Centre. Its size has not been specified yet.
  • The Sinsay brand is relocating and expanding its showroom in the Centrum Serenada in Kraków. The new premises with area of over 805 sqm will open on 29 January 2025.
  • Losan Depot, a distributor of materials for the furniture and interior design industry, has leased 3,500 sqm in CTPark Bucharest North. The relocation process was advised by Simon, Iuga & Partners.

New appointments

  • Małgorzata Głowicka has joined Ceres as Chief Financial Officer responsible for Central and Eastern European markets. The company provides services in the areas of property management, project commercialisation, construction, redevelopment, modernisation and repositioning of properties.
  • Karol Klin joined the Cornerstone Investment Management team at the beginning of 2025, taking on the role of Commercial Director, Real Estate.
  • Sebastian Barandziak has been appointed as the new President of the Management Board of Euro Styl, a subsidiary of Dom Development Group. The existing board members, Magdalena Reńska and Jarosław Górski, have been appointed as vice presidents.
