The Emonika complex in Ljubljana has officially entered its next phase of development as OTP Group held a groundbreaking ceremony at the project site.

The Emonika site has been designated for redevelopment for over 17 years, with Mendota Invest, a member of the OTP Group, leading the planning, permitting, and preparation over the past five years in collaboration with national and municipal public institutions.

Upon completion, Emonika will integrate 187 residential units, two hotels, office spaces, and a retail center with Ljubljana’s central transport hub. The development is being built in accordance with BREEAM sustainability standards, with the goal of creating an inclusive and forward-looking urban environment.

Dr. Sándor Csányi, Chairman of OTP Bank, said: “This groundbreaking marks the end of a long wait – and the beginning of a new chapter for Ljubljana. Emonika will become a city within the city, combining quality of life with modern infrastructure, and blending heritage with forward-looking development. We are proud to play a long-term role in this transformation.”

One hotel lease has already been secured, with advanced negotiations underway for a second. Retail leasing efforts are in progress, and projections indicate that 25 to 30% of the residential units will be sold by the end of the summer. Furthermore, the new HQ of the merged OTP Bank in Slovenia will be situated within the development.

The project is slated for completion by the end of 2027.
