There are more and more retail parks in CEE

Smaller retail facilities up to 20,000 sqm, such as parks, have proved their resilience to the pandemic in Central and Eastern Europe and remain attractive for investors. In Poland, 170,000 sqm of new supply in retail parks is planned for 2021, with 120,000 sqm in Romania, and 70,000 sqm in the Czech Republic, according to CBRE data. In all countries in the region, consumers and investors appreciate their locality, with development opportunities in small towns, supplying the most important needs and ensuring greater safety in the pandemic.

Trei opens four new Vendo Parks in Poland

Trei Real Estate GmbH just opened four new retail parks under the Vendo Park brand in Poland. The retail properties are located in Zielonka in the Masovian voivodeship, Piekary Śląskie in the Silesian voivodeship as well as in Koszalin and Myślibórz, two towns in the West Pomeranian voivodeship. Taken together, the new Vendo Parks have a gross lettable area of around 19,800 square metres and a total of 26 units, including several branches of brands like Dealz or Action which previously had no outlets in these towns and which therefore broaden the local retail spectrum. Overall, Trei invested c. €27 million in these properties.

New leases

  • Worldbox has entered the Romanian market with its first store at Scallier's Funshop Park in Vaslui. The multi-brand store covers more than 660 sqm and offers clothing, footwear and accessories in the casual and sportswear segment.
  • Greek jewelry designer Anna Maria Mazaraki has opened her first Romanian store in Bucharest-based ParkLake Shopping Center. The transaction for the new location was brokered by Cushman & Wakefield Echinox.
  • Squarepoint, a global quantitative investment management firm, has leased close to 2,200 sqm in Warsaw based Skyliner II. Squarepoint was represented in the transaction by CBRE. Legal advisory for Karimpol was provided by Argon Legal.

New appointments

  • CBRE Investment Management announced the firm is evolving the leadership model in its EMEA Direct Real Estate business. Under the enhanced structure, Rik Eertink will assume the role of President and CIO of EMEA Direct Real Estate, after serving as President of EMEA Direct Real Estate for the past five years.
  • Nhood has appointed Mihaela Petruescu as the new Country Director for Property Services Romania & Poland as of October. She previously held leadership positions at large real estate firms, such as Cushman & Wakefield Echinox and CBRE Romania.
  • Daniel Orczyk has been named Senior Project Manager at the technical advisory department of Avison Young in Poland. He is a licensed structural engineer and building site manager with over 20 years of experience.
