F&B sector set to grow in Bulgaria

The share of food & beverages in modern shopping centres in Sofia is two to three times below the European benchmark, according to the latest report by Colliers International. From 5% a decade ago, it grew to 10-15% of GLA in European cities in present times and is forecasted to reach 20% by 2025. The share of F&B in Sofia shopping centres is about 6% or 20,000 sqm of the total space.

Park Lane starts new office project in Sofia

BSTDB & Postbank to finance Sofia’s Marriott hotel

The Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB) and Postbank (Bulgaria) will jointly provide €58.3 million (€32 million and €26.3 million, respectively) to help finance the construction of a Marriott hotel in Sofia, the first hotel of the international chain in Bulgaria. The 12-year loan will be extended to I Tower Development JSC, a special-purpose company set-up in Bulgaria. BSTDB acted as arranger of the deal. The operation aims at meeting the growing demand for high-quality business and tourist accommodation and conference facilities in the Bulgarian capital.

Hungarian investor and developer Wing has acquired two office buildings in Sofia, Bulgaria for a total of €9.85 million. The DXC Office Building has 8,000 sqm GLA, while the BULMAG Office Building offers 770 sqm of leasable space.

New leases

  • Ing Hubs Poland is opening a new office in Warsaw's The Form office building. It will occupy 7,200 sqm on three floors of the complex.
  • BrainShare IT, a new technology company will occupy almost 1,100 sqm in Unity Tower, the tallest office building in Kraków. In the transaction process, the tenant was represented by aItra Polska, while the landlord was represented by JLL, which is the exclusive agent responsible for the commercialisation of the complex.
  • The M1 Bytom shopping centre, managed by EPP, is strengthening its retail and entertainment offer with new tenants - Sinsay clothing brand and the FlyPark amusement park, which is due to open this summer. The total space covered by the new contracts is 3,600 sqm.

New appointments

  • Emil Domeracki joins Walter Herz as a partner and shareholder. He will be responsible for strategic initiatives, as well as business planning and development in the area of land investment.
  • Tomasz Michalczyk has taken on the Head of Office Agency role at Axi Immo advisory agency. He will manage the team, acquire and advise key clients on the office market.
  • Hungarian construction player Óbuda Group has announced the appointment of two new Deputy CEOs. Gábor Horváth will lead the project management division, while Ottó Vörös will oversee operations. Horváth brings 35 years of experience in the construction industry, while Vörös has over two decades of management and financial experience in real estate management.
