Skanska has sold two office buildings in Poland – Nowy Targ in Wroclaw and High5ive in Krakow –to real estate funds managed by Credit Suisse Asset Management Global Real Estate.

Over recent years, Romania has become one of Central Eastern Europe’s most attractive regions to start operations in. According to research by JLL, by the end of 2020 the country is expected to become the second largest economy in the CEE and continues to attract investors from all over the world – not only from Europe, but also those from South Africa, the USA and China.

The valuation team of Cresa Poland advised Colas, part of the Bouygues Group, on their acquisition of 11 asphalt plants from Skanska. 

Skanska has sold its Nordic Light Trio office building in Budapest to JR AMC, a South Korean real estate investment trust. This is not only the buyer's first acquisition with Skanska, but it is also its first office investment in the CEE region after transactions in Vienna, Dublin and Paris. 

Skanska has acquired about 13,000 square meters of land in Prague, Czech Republic, from HB Reavis Group B.V. The total investment amounts to €19.5 million.

Microsoft and Skanska’s office unit in Poland have signed an agreement on strategic cooperation in the area of PropTech. It provides for expert knowledge exchange and the use of advanced data analytics solutions, AI mechanisms and cloud computing to create breakthrough innovations for the office real estate sector. The partners will also work together to develop presentations of Skanska's development projects using mixed reality and Microsoft HoloLens glasses and the analytical part of the Connected by Skanska system.

Skanska has sold Buildings C and D of the Silesia Business Park, a four-building office complex in Katowice. The buyer is ISOC Group, a diversified real estate and infrastructure investment group, based in Manila, Philippines. This is Skanska’s first CEE office divestment transaction to a Philippine investor. With the sale of buildings C and D, the developer has now sold all four properties in the Silesia Business Park complex. Buildings A and B were divested in 2015 to a Swedish investor.

German funds have always been one of the main players on the investment market in Poland and the CEE region. However, in recent years their share in transaction volume has been decreasing. Currently, they stand at around 15% of the total value invested annually. New entrants from the USA, Asia and South Africa have increased competition for commercial property in the region. Poland and the Czech Republic are still the CEE markets of choice for German investors seeking to locate their capital in commercial real estate.

Skanska and local developer Prime Kapital might share the 11-hectare Griro platform in Bucharest, controlled by businessmen Nicolae Badea and Fatih Taher, in a €50 million transaction, according to market sources.

Praga Studios, the new Karlín office building by Skanska, has progressed significantly on its way to completion. In October 2018, the builders placed a topping out flag on the site of the future roof terrace to symbolise the completion of the superstructure. The building, with a total area of almost 12 000 sqm, will be completed in Q2 2019.
