Wing hands over new Ericsson HQ in Budapest

On May 29th, 2018, Budapest’s Ericsson House was officially handed over. This new building, developed by Wing, features not only offices but also one of the Swedish company’s largest European Research & Development centres. The 24,000 sqm property, built in the first phase of the development project of the Hungarian Nobel-Prize Winners’ R&D Park, satisfies both the needs of today and tomorrow due to its cutting-edge technology and execution. As shown by its LEED Gold certification it upholds the highest standards of environmental consciousness. The new HQ will house 1800 workers. Now, with the handover of the Ericsson House, the development of the adjacent site may commence as the second phase of the project.

Futureal starts construction of Budapest shopping centre

ECE plans new shopping centre in Budapest

ECE plans to develop a new shopping centre in Budapest. The project area is located in the North-western part of the Hungarian capital, close to the Danube River, on the site of a former textile factory in the Óbuda district. It is planned to have over 170 shops on three levels and a leasable area of more than 50,000 sqm. Construction start for the project is scheduled for 2019, and the opening is planned for 2021.

IAD acquires logistics park in Hungary

IAD Investments, the oldest independent Slovak asset management company, has acquired the Dunaharaszti industrial park next to Budapest. The acquisition of the logistics complex was made on behalf of its Prvý realitný fond, a mutual fund investing throughout Central Europe. This is the first fund acquisition made in Hungary and it means the successful entrance to the Hungarian real estate market.

Wing to develop flight training centre for Wizz Air

Wing Zrt. will develop an international flight training centre fully tailored to Wizz Air’s needs in the scope of a one-of-a-kind project in close proximity to Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport. The facility will be the largest flight training centre in Hungary, and one of the most modern in the Central and Eastern European region. The 3800 square metre building will accommodate three flight deck simulators (two of them full-motion simulators) and a complete aircraft fuselage with passenger compartment (allowing the budget airline’s crew to run cabin crew training). After signing a long-term lease agreement, construction began in February. The building’s structure has been built, and delivery is scheduled for the end of the year. This is the second significant development project that Wing has undertaken in the vicinity of the airport in just a short time. The ibis Styles Budapest Airport – also developed by Wing – was inaugurated in January.

Warimpex buys Budapest office building

Warimpex Finanz- und Beteiligungs AG announced the purchase of the B52 Office building in Budapest for an undisclosed price. The transaction was signed on 20 April 2018 and will be closed before the end of the second quarter. The seller is CCE Investment Kft., the investment arm of the prominent real estate investor and development company ConvergenCE.

New leases

  • Low-cost airline flydubai has opened a new office Bucharest-based Eminescu Offices, in a deal brokered by Cushman & Wakefield Echinox.
  • LCP Properties has finalised two further leases for M Park Pionki. The CCC shoe shop will occupy 400 sqm in the building, while the area of the Xtreme Fitness gym will reach 600 sqm.
  • Two more companies have become tenants of Diuna, part of the Warsaw office portfolio of Syrena Real Estate and PineBridge Benson Elliot. Intrum has leased nearly 370 sqm and Carrier Chłodnictwo about 500 sqm in the complex on Taśmowa Street. In addition, WDX has extended its lease for nearly 500 sqm of space.

New appointments

  • Prologis' Warsaw team has gained a new director. As of 1st of April, Marzena Tkaczuk has joined the team of development experts. As Capital Deployment Director, she will be responsible in particular for the implementation of build-to-suit projects.
  • Hagag Development Europe has named Ana-Maria Nemțanu as Leasing Director. She has over 17 years’ worth of experience in the local real estate industry.
  • Emilia Dębowska has been promoted to the position of Head of Sustainability Europe of Panattoni. In her new role, she will be responsible for Panattoni’s integrated sustainable development strategy encompassing both the company’s business goals and the development of its projects in Europe for every country in which the developer is active.
