As of September 1, 2025, the Budapest Government Office will roll out a new Electronic Real Estate Registry (E-ING). This initiative promises to eliminate paper-based processes, streamlining and speeding up property-related administration while also reducing costs.

Temporary disruption ahead

To facilitate the transition, personal in-person services at the land registry offices will be suspended from August 29 to September 5, 2025. Despite this, clients can still submit their documents via mail or electronically during this period.

Furthermore, on August 29 and September 1, government service centres will not provide property title deeds or map copies.

Full in-person services are slated to resume on Monday, September 8, 2025.

What the E-ING system offers

  • Digital-only filing: all procedures will be transitioned to an online platform—no more paper
  • Faster, cheaper, and more efficient processing overall
  • Electronic authentication, real-time status tracking, and synchronisation with central registries for up-to-date data sharing

Why now? A timing clash with housing support

The launch coincides with the start of the state-backed, low-interest "Otthon Start Program", which also begins on September 1. The overlap could lead to delays in property registrations, potentially slowing down mortgage or title-related processes crucial for homebuyers under this programme.
