Prague councillors have approved the change in the city master plan necessary for the construction of a mixed-use skyscraper called Top Tower, to be built by Trigema near the Nové Butovice metro station, reports E15.cz.

The council approved the change together with the so-called planning contract, according to which the investor will contribute approximately CZK 75.7 million (€3 million) to the Prague 13 district and the municipality in the form of cash and improvements to public areas. In the end, city representatives will vote on changing the plan and the contract.

According to earlier information, the Top Tower is expected to be the tallest building in Prague and the Czech Republic, standing at 135 meters. The 125-meter-high building is to be supported by a ten-meter-higher structure depicting a shipwreck, designed by architect Tomáš Císař and artist David Černý. Inside the building, there are to be rental apartments, shops, offices or a cultural and amusement centre.
