Slovakia's housing completions fall in Q1 2022

The number of completed flats in Slovakia has fallen year-on-year in the first quarter of 2022.  Construction around Bratislava has also been on a downward trend for several quarters. However, three Slovak regions report the opposite trend with a dynamic increase in the number of completed apartments. The recovery can be observed in the number of flats under construction, according to data from the Statistical Office of Slovakia, reality.trend.sk reports.

Bratislava's Aupark adds photovoltaic panels

Bratislava's Aupark shopping centre, owned by Wood & Company and Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, is adding another step to improve its sustainable management. In addition to sorting, low-energy lighting and water conservation, it is now installing hundreds of photovoltaic panels on its roof. The owners are hoping to make significant savings in energy resources, most notably saving 100,000 cubic metres of natural gas per year, reports the online daily Reality.trend.sk.

Bratislava has a new plan for recovering the old town

Since the 1970s, the centre of Bratislava's Old Town has been divided by the multi-stream road Staroměstská Street. The City Hall, together with the Bratislava Metropolitan Institute, now has a plan to improve the area. Thanks to advanced digitalisation, the individual processes and the timeframes for their execution are shortened. Penta's resi project Bory in Bratislava starts 5th phase

The fifth stage of the Bory Housing residential project is being prepared in the newly emerging Bory district in the northwest of Bratislava. This week the documentation for the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) was submitted. At the same time, documents for obtaining a zoning decision are being prepared. Bratislava market records substantial take-up in Q1 2021

The beginning of the year was marked by the Russian invasion of Ukraine which caused various obstacles to the Slovak economy. It pushes inflation up to the highest in 17 years as also the prices of food, housing and energy. Nevertheless, the lifted lockdown measures helped boost retail sales and new office leases surpassed renegotiations for the sixth quarter in a row. New leases

  • BIPA, the drugstore brand of the German REWE Group, has opened the first store in Romania at Bucharest-based Mega Mall. The unit’s leasable area stands at around 370 sqm.
  • M1 Łódź, managed by EPP, has inked new and renewed leases for nearly 5,800 sqm of retail space. The most significant addition is the opening of a HalfPrice store spanning nearly 2,200 sqm.
  • dm-Pharmahandel, the Czech subsidiary of the German drugstore chain dm-drogerie markt, will open a specialised logistics centre for the distribution of over-the-counter pharmaceuticals at CTPark Bor. The company will occupy a nearly 7,100 sqm facility.

New appointments

  • Michał Stępień has joined MDC2 as Investment Director. He has over 20 years of experience in the real estate industry, gained at Savills, where he worked in teams dealing with valuation, research, and investment advisory. Over the last few years, he has focused on the industrial and logistics sector, advising on market strategy, asset positioning, and investment decisions.
  • Rob Jones has joined CTP as Head of Investor Relations and PR, having previously led the European Real Estate Equity Research team at BNP Paribas. Jones will be working closely with Group CFO Richard Wilkinson and Maarten Otte.
  • CTP Romania has named Bianca Liulea-Stamate as Marketing Specialist. She has previously worked at DB Schenker for more than seven years.
