Around 650,000 sqm of industrial and logistics spaces are under development in Romania, which once completed will be added to the stock of 6.3 million sqm that was operational at the end of 2022, according to a Colliers report.

Michele Nusco, CEO of Nusco Imobiliara, spoke to Property Forum about the company’s first villa project in the north of Bucharest and the further development of the Nusco City mixed project in which the planned investment will exceed €100 million.

The office leasing activity in Bucharest was up 12% in the first half of 2023 compared to the same period of 2022, with volumes reaching 169,000 sqm, according to a Crosspoint Real Estate report.  

Romanian property company Grand Development, founded by Ionuț Nicolescu, is investing over €12 million in the development of Montebello Transylvania Resort, a project comprising 47 chalet-style villas near Brasov. The first phase of the development is slated for completion in November 2023. 

Hospitality company IHG Hotels & Resorts has marked the launch of its lifestyle brand in Romania through the singing of the Hotel Indigo Satu Mare. The new hotel will open in 2025 and will join IHG’s network in Romania which includes Intercontinental Athénée Palace Bucharest, Crowne Plaza Bucharest, and Holiday Inn Bucharest-Times. 

Romanian property developer Comnord Development will start in September the construction of a new luxury residential project in northern Bucharest, with a projected investment of €30 million.

Romania Sotheby’s International Realty has listed for sale the building of the former Odeon Theatre in Galați for €690,000. Originally built in 1911 by Apostol P. Papadopol, an eminent merchant and appreciated philanthropist, the former Odeon Theatre is a historical and cultural landmark. The building was recognized by the press of its time as “The most elegant theatre in Galați.”
