Temperature measurements taken during the summer of 2024 and 2026 have demonstrated how vegetation affects surface temperatures in Bratislava during extreme heat events. At the Guthaus residential complex, the green roof recorded an average surface temperature of 49°C at 14:00 when air temperature was 33°C, but areas with growing vegetation on the substrate reached only 39°C. During an August heatwave with air temperatures of 40°C, the same vegetation reached 47°C. "It is still 10 degrees less than an asphalt or paved pavement in the centre of Bratislava," said Miriam Cánik, green space expert at developer CORWIN.

Romania's ongoing energy crisis, marked by record-low Danube water levels and declining nuclear output, has prompted sustainability consultancy BuildGreen to argue that decarbonisation should be treated as a cost management and risk reduction tool rather than purely an ESG obligation. According to ANRE data, hydropower and nuclear energy together accounted for nearly half of Romania's electricity generation in March 2026, yet nuclear production fell by 12.3% in the first five months of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025. This pressure arose despite electricity consumption being 3.4% lower than during the corresponding period in 2025.

VGP and BuildGreen have secured a BREEAM New Construction V6 Outstanding rating for VGP Park Split - Building A, a 31,984 sqm logistics facility in Dugopolje, near Split, Croatia. BuildGreen and Zorile SA announce the achievement of LEED v4.1 Existing Buildings Platinum certification for Zity Office in Chișinău. This marks the first such certification on the Moldovan office market and aligns the project with international sustainability standards.
