Panattoni has completed the construction of a BTS facility for Animex Foods, the largest food producer and exporter of meat in Poland. The modern building, with an area of 10,153 sqm, has been developed near Ostróda in the Warmian-Masurian province.

The building was handed over to Animex Foods at the end of March. “Despite the ongoing pandemic and the harsher winter this time around, we managed to complete it on time. The facility required the fulfilment of high technical standards and obtaining certificates confirming that the food stored there would be safe. We are no strangers to this kind of challenges. Panattoni specialises in the construction of BTS facilities for companies representing a wide variety of industries, from electric car battery and household appliance manufacturers, to the giants of online commerce. A third of the space we have completed so far – more than 3 million sqm – is in facilities built for the specific needs of tenants,” explains Marek Foryński, the BTS Managing Director of Panattoni.

Animex Foods is a market leader in pork, poultry and processed meat products in Poland, including such brands as Krakus, Morliny and Berlinki. Since 1999, Animex Foods has been part of international food industry giant Smithfield Foods, and since 2013 of the WH Group – the world’s biggest pork producer.

“The new warehouse and distribution centre has been built close to one of our key processing plants. Thanks to this, we will be able to increase the operational capabilities of the neighbouring plant and improve the efficiency of our supply chain. Key factors were the proximity of our suppliers and the immediate access to the S7 expressway (Warsaw–Gdańsk), and thus to the TriCity seaports. In line with the strategy we have adopted, approx. 30 pct of the company’s annual revenue is to come from exports, e.g. EU countries and the UK as well as the US and Vietnam,” explains Łukasz Dominiak, the Director of Public and Government Relations at Animex Foods.

Bogusław Fijas, the Mayor of Ostróda, also comments on Panattoni’s development for Animex Foods: “We appreciate each investor in our market. Thanks to them, the region is experiencing growth and new jobs are being created. That’s why we are doing everything we can to provide a business-friendly environment and adopt a pro-investment attitude that supports such businesses at each stage of the implementation of their investments.”

Animex Foods’ new warehouse and distribution centre has been built on a 2.7 ha plot in Tyrowo near Ostróda. The 10,000 sqm facility includes, among other features, three cold stores (where the temperature can be maintained between 0 and +6 ⁰C), a freezer with temperatures as low as -22 ⁰C, and a dry warehouse.
