Panattoni has completed the construction of a BTS facility for Animex Foods, the largest food producer and exporter of meat in Poland. The modern building, with an area of ​​10,153 sqm, has been developed near Ostróda in the Warmian-Masurian province.


The building was handed over to Animex Foods at the end of March. “Despite the ongoing pandemic and the harsher winter this time around, we managed to complete it on time. The facility required the fulfilment of high technical standards and obtaining certificates confirming that the food stored there would be safe. We are no strangers to this kind of challenges. Panattoni specialises in the construction of BTS facilities for companies representing a wide variety of industries, from electric car battery and household appliance manufacturers, to the giants of online commerce. A third of the space we have completed so far – more than 3 million sqm – is in facilities built for the specific needs of tenants,” explains Marek Foryński, the BTS Managing Director of Panattoni.

Animex Foods is a market leader in pork, poultry and processed meat products in Poland, including such brands as Krakus, Morliny and Berlinki. Since 1999, Animex Foods has been part of international food industry giant Smithfield Foods, and since 2013 of the WH Group – the world’s biggest pork producer.

“The new warehouse and distribution centre has been built close to one of our key processing plants. Thanks to this, we will be able to increase the operational capabilities of the neighbouring plant and improve the efficiency of our supply chain. Key factors were the proximity of our suppliers and the immediate access to the S7 expressway (Warsaw–Gdańsk), and thus to the TriCity seaports. In line with the strategy we have adopted, approx. 30 pct of the company’s annual revenue is to come from exports, e.g. EU countries and the UK as well as the US and Vietnam,” explains Łukasz Dominiak, the Director of Public and Government Relations at Animex Foods.

Bogusław Fijas, the Mayor of Ostróda, also comments on Panattoni’s development for Animex Foods: “We appreciate each investor in our market. Thanks to them, the region is experiencing growth and new jobs are being created. That’s why we are doing everything we can to provide a business-friendly environment and adopt a pro-investment attitude that supports such businesses at each stage of the implementation of their investments.”

Animex Foods’ new warehouse and distribution centre has been built on a 2.7 ha plot in Tyrowo near Ostróda. The 10,000 sqm facility includes, among other features, three cold stores (where the temperature can be maintained between 0 and +6 ⁰C), a freezer with temperatures as low as -22 ⁰C, and a dry warehouse.

The company has leased 2,400 sqm of warehouse and office space, with operations already underway via early access. A full handover is expected in December 2026. Stockly was represented by Rock Estate during the transaction.

New appointments

  • Aleksandra Walaszek and Tomasz Nowakowski have joined Cushman & Wakefield’s Retail Agency. Walaszek has more than 10 years of experience in the retail sector. Nowakowski is an expert with nearly 20 years of experience in strategic leasing and retail property transaction management.
  • iO Partners has appointed Constantin Banu as Business Development Director for its Industrial and Land segments. With over 25 years of experience in the Romanian real estate sector, Banu is widely credited with helping shape the local logistics market. In his new role, he will oversee expansion strategies for the two segments.
  • Avison Young has promoted Bartłomiej Krzyżak and Marcin Purgal to the roles of Co-Heads of the Investment Department in Poland. Krzyżak, previously Senior Director, brings 18 years of commercial real estate experience, having joined Avison Young in 2017. Purgal, also a former Senior Director and a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS), transitions into the co-head role with 23 years of experience in the CEE commercial markets.
