State-owned power producer Hidroelectrica has signed a turnkey contract for the project, marking a strategic step towards diversifying its production portfolio and strengthening its position in the renewable energy market.

The contract, worth €4.9 million excluding VAT, was awarded following an open tender procedure with four submitted bids. The winning offer came from the association of Electro-alfa International and General Me.el Electric, with Electro-alfa International as the lead partner.

The project involves developing a solar park with an installed capacity of 8.9 MW and an estimated average production of approximately 11 GWh per year. The investment will contribute to increasing renewable energy production capacity, reducing carbon emissions and supporting national and European energy transition objectives.

"Signing this contract marks another important moment in our development strategy. The Țara Hațegului Solar Park project confirms Hidroelectrica's commitment to investing in modern and efficient green energy production capacities, diversifying the company's energy mix," said Bogdan Badea, CEO of Hidroelectrica.

The turnkey project will include design activities, equipment supply, construction work, testing, commissioning and technical assistance during the warranty period. The contract duration is 12 months, with 2 months for the design phase and 10 months for execution.

Through this investment, Hidroelectrica consolidates its position as a leader in renewable energy production in Romania, continuing its strategy of developing new renewable energy capacities to complement its hydroelectric portfolio.
