Multi Corporation enters Hungary

Multi Corporation, a pan-European fully integrated retail real estate service platform, recently acquired the asset and property management of Allee Centre. This shopping centre is located in the city-centre of Budapest and includes 46,700 sqm of retail space. Multi’s centre management team took over the management of Allee Centre on 1 January 2018, marking Multi’s first entry into the Hungarian retail real estate market. This is the fourteenth country in which Multi Corporation is developing its operations.

Hystead acquires two Croatian malls

Hystead Limited, a UK company co-owned by Hyprop Investments Limited (Hyprop) and PDI Investment Holdings Limited (PDI), has acquired a 90% interest in two Croatian shopping centres. The purchase consideration net of €154.4 million asset-based finance is €129.1 million, of which Hyprop’s effective share is approximately €77.5 million. The two malls, namely City Center one Zagreb West and City Center one Zagreb East, are located in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. The transaction is conditional upon approval of the Croatian competition authority and is expected to close at the end of March 2018.

Wing acquires Budapest shopping centre

Wing Zrt. has acquired a retail portfolio which includes the EuroCenter Óbuda shopping centre as well as two properties in the regional city of Szombathely. The company has over ten years of experience developing and managing retail properties and plans to carry out value-enhancing investments across the new portfolio with a particular focus on the Buda shopping centre. Wing intends to invest in improving the shopping centre’s existing strengths for both shoppers and tenants.

Union Investment buys Wroclaw shopping centre for €380 million

Union Investment has expanded its Polish shopping centre portfolio by making its first investment of this kind in Wrocław. The latest addition to open-ended real estate fund Unilmmo: Europa is Magnolia Park, which comprises some 100,000 sqm of retail space. Sold to Union Investment by Blackstone for around €380 million, the shopping centre is almost fully let, with leases having an average of 4.2 years to run. The shopping centre will continue to be managed by Multi after the sale. Cushman & Wakefield advised Union Investment on the transaction.

Czech retail stock to see significant growth after 2019

The total floorspace in shopping centres across Europe increased by 1.17 million sqm to 160.8 million sqm at the midpoint of 2017, according to Cushman & Wakefield. Since the beginning of 2017, a total of 57,850 sqm of new shopping centre space has been completed in the Czech Republic. The figure includes the extension of IGY České Budějovice by 9,250 sqm, an extension of the Chodov Centre by 35,000 sqm and the newly built Central Jablonec with a floor space of 13,600 sqm. This represents a 67% growth over the previous year. However, the market will deliver markedly less shopping centre space next year. According to current information, just one shopping centre will be completed – the Géčko in Ostrava. By contrast, several major projects will open after 2019.

New leases

  • The Park Warsaw, managed by White Star Real Estate, gained new tenants during Q3 and Q4 2023. The latest leases saw the start of cooperation with companies such as RedNet Property Group, which leased 523 sqm in building B1, Puratos (430 sqm in building B5) and Yokogawa (563 sqm in building B5).
  • New Post International Poland has selected and leased approximately 5,600 sqm of a warehouse with office space in the Logicor Okęcie logistics park in Warsaw. The company operates in the transport and forwarding industry.
  • Efigence, a technology company specialising in the design and implementation of solutions for the financial and e-commerce sectors, has extended its lease of 1,200 sqm of office space at Platinium Business Park in Warsaw's Mokotów district.

New appointments

  • Szymon Zduńczyk has joined the Management Board of Karimpol Poland as of 1st of March, 2024. The former Executive Director has been promoted to Managing Director and Member of the Management Board of the Group's Polish subsidiary. Mr Zduńczyk is the first Pole in the company's history to sit on its Management Board alongside Andreas Prokes and Harald Jeschek.
  • Building on the successes of last year, GARBE Industrial Real Estate CEE is responding by promoting Martin Stratov to the position of GARBE Director for the Czech Republic and Slovakia, Veronika Zacha will be the new Head of Business Development and Construction in the Czech Republic and Jan Hradecky will move to the position of GARBE Project Management Manager for the Czech Republic.
  • Gellért Berkes has been appointed as Head of Property Management at ConvergenCE. He has been a member of the real estate development team for two and a half years. He has nearly 15 years of professional real estate experience.
