Hungarian investor Appeninn Holding has signed contracts to buy the Kanizsa Centrum shopping centre in the southwestern city of Nagykanizsa and two strip malls (Zone Parks) in Székesfehervar and Zalaegerszeg. By acquiring these commercial properties the firm may comply with conditions made by Scope Ratings and thus hopes to get a higher rating.

According to Cushman & Wakefield, 2022 witnessed a recovery in commercial real estate investment activity in CEE, with the year closing marginally up compared to the previous year. Total investment volumes in Central and Eastern Europe came in at €10.7 billion, up by 6.6% year-on-year. Growing e-commerce facilitates increased investment in fulfilment services and generates more specialized logistics centres to build. Hungarian company Boxy Zrt. takes advantage of this, and now Property Forum asked András Táncsics, CEO of the company to elaborate on the plans for expansion in Hungary.

Apart from remodelling the food court, a 10% extension is planned in this centrally located retail complex. This is the biggest change in the life of Westend shopping centre, managed by Granit Polus. The company has not disclosed the size of the investment.

The latest EBI Construction Activity Report, prepared by Eltinga, Buildecon, and iBuild, has found that after the weak Q3 2022, Q4 2022 saw a slight nominal expansion in activity-start in Hungarian construction. The value of started construction works was still very low; between October and December 2022 they totalled roughly HUF 650 billion.

The global developer of industrial properties intends to build more huge logistics space in its Prologis Park Budapest-Sziget II complex. More than 114,000 sqm of new space is in the pipeline in the park that is near the M0 ring road.
