It is pivotal to destigmatize rental housing

Marek Blaha, Head of affordable housing developer Dostupné bydlení České spořitelny, talked to Property Forum about the necessity of expanding the overall availability of housing in the Czech Republic. Česká spořitelna and Kooperativa buy resi project in Prague

As it was unofficially confirmed last month, Sekyra Group has agreed with Dostupné bydlení České spořitelny and the insurance company Kooperativa on the sale of the Opatov II residential project in Prague 11. This is one of the largest build-to-rent (BTR) transactions in the Czech Republic, Sekyra Group announced. The price of the transaction was not disclosed.

Two investors buy project with 300 affordable flats in Prague

One of the first private-sector affordable housing projects in the Czech Republic, Opatov II with 300 flats in Prague 11 by developer Sekyra Group, has reportedly been sold. The transaction has not yet been announced by the buying parties, but credible sources have confirmed it. The transaction was also confirmed by an advisor to the selling party. According to the information available, part of the flats are to be acquired by the insurance company Kooperativa from the Vienna Insurance Group and part should be bought by Dostupné bydlení České spořitelny (subsidiary of Česká spořitelna bank) as the company's second housing project in Prague. The transaction amount has also not yet been disclosed.

Česká spořitelna to build low-rent flats with FINEP in Prague

Česká spořitelna has started to build affordable apartments with low rents for employees that cities lack. The first such apartment buildings with 254 flats are already taking shape in Prague 9, built by a subsidiary of the bank DBČS with the developer Finep for CZK 1 billion (€42.7 million). The bank plans to build a total of 1,000 flats by 2026. The bank also wants to cooperate with the Czech government to finance more flats through EU funds and loans from the European Investment Bank, DBČS subsidiary CEO Marek Blaha told the press.

F&S Invest to build new resi project near Prague

Construction has begun on the Verde Slaný residential project in the royal town of Slany. The entire complex will be built in several stages on the former Benar cotton spinning mill site in the immediate vicinity of the revitalised Kumpán Garden. The estimated investment for the entire project is over CZK 1 billion (€42.3 million) with the planned construction of more than 220 new apartments.

Zeitgeist AM secures €113 million refinancing from Česká spořitelna

Zeitgeist Asset Management has obtained a loan from Česká spořitelna for the largest ever refinancing of its portfolio in the amount of €113 million (CZK 2.7 billion). In total, it concerns 23 properties with a total value of €220 million, located in various Prague locations. These are mainly residential properties with apartments for rent and private campuses for student accommodation.

New leases

  • Among the new tenants of the retail part of the Sky Tower complex in Wrocław is Empik. The store has a floor area of approximately 270 sqm.
  • Breakfast restaurant Bułkę przez Bibułkę, will open its first outlet outside of Warsaw. The new premises will be set up in Łódź's Fusion. The tenant will occupy 180 sqm in one of the historic buildings located in Ogrody Anny. The opening is scheduled for the summer holidays.
  • The shopping centres managed by EPP, Wzorcownia in Włocławek, Galeria Solna in Inowrocław and Galeria Olimpia in Bełchatów, are extending their offer with the assortment of Pitbull, one of the most recognisable sportswear brands in Poland. The area covered by the leases amounts to over 250 sqm.

New appointments

  • The Supervisory Board of Globe Trade Centre S.A. has appointed Balázs Gosztonyi as a member of the Management Board of GTC S.A. Balázs Gosztonyi has held the position of Chief Financial Officer at GTC Hungary since January 2024. He joined GTC Group in September 2023 as Group Controlling Director.
  • Wiesław Malicki has become the new President of Polski Holding Nieruchomości, the company's Board has announced. Until now, the acting Chairman of the Board was Artur Lebiedziński.
  • Prologis' Warsaw team has gained a new director. As of 1st of April, Marzena Tkaczuk has joined the team of development experts. As Capital Deployment Director, she will be responsible in particular for the implementation of build-to-suit projects.
