Erste Group names new Head of Commercial Real Estate

Erste Group Bank AG has appointed Patrick Zehetmayr to head the banking group’s commercial real estate business, which encompasses non-residential activities at both the stock-listed company’s holding level and at Erste Bank Oesterreich, the group’s Austrian subsidiary. In his new role, Zehetmayr is responsible for the group’s commercial real estate coverage and financing activities, as well as for the real estate leasing business of Erste Group Immorent (EGI), whose supervisory board he chairs.

CBRE leases 1 million sqm of offices in CEE in 2019

Although there has been a slight decline in total office demand, CBRE leased 1 million square meters of office space last year in the CEE region. For Romania’s office market, 2019 was a prolific year, with the modern stock surpassing 3 million sqm and, finally, with a reversal of classes composition: Class A became the preponderance with 53% of the total. As the main market of the country, Bucharest faced a strong demand, approximatively 386,000 sqm being leased in 2019 – an impressive 19% growth compared with 2018

CEE sets real estate investment record

According to JLL, CEE's real estate investment volume for 2019 hit €14.0 billion. Poland registered over 55% of this total (€7.7 billion) and was followed by the Czech Republic (€3.1 billion), Hungary (€1.7 billion), Slovakia (approx. €770 million), and Romania (approx. €683 million).

Wing completes acquisition of Echo Investment

With the payment transferred on 13 December, Wing has acquired a 100% stake in Lisala, which in turn owns a 56 % stake in ECHO Investment, a company listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE). This acquisition makes Wing a major real estate firm at the regional level. Supporting Echo Investment’s long-term growth program, Wing enters as a strategic investor. At the operational level, the two companies will continue to operate independently.

New leases

  • Revetas Capital announced that Bonarka for Business “B4B” has secured a lease extension contract with a company of Hitachi Group - GlobalLogic. The company, a leader in digital product engineering, has been a tenant in B4B since 2016 and leases in total of 6,500 sqm of office space in Building F.
  • GTC has extended its lease for 1,700 square meters of office space with pharmaceutical company Egis Polska. The company will continue its operations in the Corius building at the Aeropark Business Centre in Warsaw.
  • IMSAT, a company that offers integrated engineering, electrical, automation, and industrial technology solutions, has expanded its office space, within Bucharest-based The Bridge office building, to 3,800 sqm. The deal was brokered by Cushman & Wakefield Echinox.

New appointments

  • GTC has announced the appointment of Sebastian Junghänel to the Management Board as Chief Operating Officer, effective 2 September 2025. With more than 18 years of experience in the real estate sector across Germany and CEE, Sebastian brings strong expertise in asset management, project development, ESG and innovation. His career includes co-founding ZEITGEIST Asset Management, where he built a €1 billion portfolio, and senior management roles at HOCHTIEF Group. At GTC, Sebastian will focus especially on the oversight of our portfolio in Germany, which includes, includes 5,200 residential units in Kaiserslautern, Helmstedt, Heidenheim, and surrounding areas. His know-how will also support our development projects in Central and Southeastern Europe.
  • Justyna Filipczak has taken up the position of Executive Vice President of the CEE residential segment and joined YIT's management team.
  • Avison Young's Valuation and Advisory team in Poland has welcomed a new member, Michał Marynowski, who takes the role of Assistant Valuer. Among other experiences, he worked at the Court of Appeal in Warsaw, where he was responsible for verifying execution documentation for selected investments, updating data in the premises database for court buildings, and analysing tender bids. Proficient in GIS, AutoCAD, and Revit, he also has strong skills in interpreting planning documents.
