Panattoni has completed a logistics centre for DHL Parcel. The 32,000 sqm centre in Robakowo is going to be the developer’s third industrial development in Poland to be awarded a BREEAM certification rating of Outstanding.

By the end of next year, DHL is planning to have hired 450 workers for its International Logistics Centre in Robakowo. An area of around 32,000 sqm is to be dedicated to the automatic sorting of parcels with the heart of the centre being a three-level sorter. The logistics will be facilitated by 300 loading docks. In response to the growing number of electric vehicles in the client’s fleet, Panattoni has prepared eleven charging stations for electric delivery vehicles as well as 13 for passenger cars. DHL Parcel is to mainly use the logistics centre to serve the market in Germany.

“Once again, Poland has demonstrated its huge potential as a hub for serving Western Europe and in particular Germany. One of the most attractive markets in this regard is  Poznań and its surrounding towns. We are pleased that more of our developments in the region are allowing international giants to tap into this potential, which is driving the development of the Wielkopolska region,” says Marek Dobrzycki, the Managing Director of Panattoni.

DHL Parcel uses a range of sustainable solutions, foremost of which is the use of renewable energy. The centre has been adapted for the installation of solar panels with a capacity of 900 KWp. Furthermore, the hall is heated with the help of heat pumps, which cover 100 pct of the heating needs for around 80 pct of the winter period. As part of the development, the developer has also created a green roof for the office section, which reduces heat loss and allows air conditioning costs to be cut during the summer. Plants that absorb carbon dioxide were used to cover the roof. They also absorb much of the noise from machinery placed on the roof. Additionally, solutions were implemented to reduce water usage including collecting the rain to be used for watering plants and creating a grey-water installation. Panattoni has also ensured the hall is well insulated.

DHL Parcel’s BTO centre has been built in Robakowo not far from the S11 road, which eventually will link Koszalin with the Silesia region.
