For the 15th time, the real estate industry will join forces for a noble cause and once again will play to support the Ronald McDonald House Poland Foundation. This year’s edition of the JLL Charity Beach Volleyball Tournament will take place on August 6 at the Monta Beach Volley Club in Warsaw. Following the success of funding the construction of the Ronald McDonald House at The Children’s Memorial Health Institute in Warsaw, the industry is keeping up the momentum and will once again support the families of young patients. The funds raised this year will be allocated to the maintenance and operation of the newly opened House. Property Forum proudly supports the event as media partner.
The first Thursday in August has become a permanent fixture on the real estate industry’s calendar as the most important charity event of the year. Since 2010, the JLL Charity Beach Volleyball Tournament has combined athletic competition with tangible help for those in need. Every year, representatives from real estate development firms, investment funds, and consulting firms gather on the sands of the Monta Beach Volley Club to strengthen relationships in an athletic atmosphere and work together for a good cause. This proves that solidarity in the real estate industry extends far beyond everyday business dealings, creating a community united around providing meaningful assistance - the tournament’s 14 editions to date have raised a total of 6.5 million PLN.
Over the past three years, participants’ efforts have focused on supporting the construction of Poland’s third Ronald McDonald House. These are places where families can go through the difficult time of their children’s hospitalisation with dignity and in comfortable conditions, while staying close to their children. Today, the Ronald McDonald House at The Children’s Memorial Health Institute is ready. It will welcome its first families very soon. Now comes the most important part - providing daily support to families of children requiring long-term treatment. The House offers 20 comfortable family rooms with bathrooms, as well as numerous common areas, including a kitchen, dining room, laundry room, recreation room, library, and garden, all open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The annual cost of maintaining a single family room is 90,000 PLN. It is this amount that allows a family to stay at the House completely free of charge - for as long as their child’s treatment lasts. Thanks to this, parents can focus on what matters most: being present, providing support, and spending time together.
JLL continues its partnership with the Ronald McDonald House Poland Foundation, which supports the families of hospitalised children on a daily basis. The 15th edition of the tournament is taking place under the slogan “The Family Stays Together.” Following the great success of funding the construction of the third Ronald McDonald House, the real estate industry will focus on ensuring its continued operation and supporting the foundation’s daily mission. The funds raised will help maintain a free and comfortable stay for the families of young patients, demonstrating that the sector’s commitment is long-term and does not end with a symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony.
"The opening of the House was a great celebration, but the real help happens quietly, every day. Maintaining a single room - which becomes the whole world for a family during treatment - involves daily costs. That is why this year we are focusing on invisible yet crucial support - on peace of mind and safety for those families going through the most difficult times. This proves that our support is lasting and that we take responsibility for sustaining our shared endeavour," says Mateusz Bonca, CEO of JLL Poland.
"The Ronald McDonald House on the IPCZD campus is proof of how great things can result from strategic relationships built on trust. For three years, the real estate industry has supported us in carrying out a key investment for the IPCZD and public pediatric healthcare. We built the House and developed a program within it that provides parents of hospitalised children with a free place to live - a space large enough for the entire family to stay as long as their child needs the hospital’s care. It’s not obvious to anyone who hasn’t been in the hospital themselves that parents, healthy children, and the child-patient need each other and closeness above all else. The House will be a home for many people 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, and I am proud of our partnership with the real estate sector, with whom we built this House - and we won’t stop at the threshold; we’ll ensure this place continues to operate for decades to come. This will benefit everyone - people, medicine, and every real estate company. Partnerships like this change the world. And we will always tell our shared story," says Katarzyna Rodziewicz, Chair of the Board and Executive Director of Ronald McDonald House Poland.
The Ronald McDonald House: Warsaw IPCZD is the third facility of its kind in Poland. The first House was established in Kraków at the University Children’s Hospital, and the second at the Children’s Clinical Hospital of the UCK WUM in Warsaw. The third House, like its predecessors, will support entire families of patients in oncology, haematology, and neonatology wards, as well as in cases where treatment is expected to last for an extended period of time. Parents, siblings, and other close family members of sick children can benefit from the House’s support.
The project stands out not only for its social mission but also for its modern construction technology. The building was constructed using CLT (cross-laminated timber) technology, which combines the tradition of timber construction with the contemporary capabilities of civil engineering. The natural beauty of wood creates a warm, healthy microclimate, and the entire structure is highly energy-efficient and eco-friendly. The design was precisely tailored to the surrounding pediatric pavilions of the IPCZD, with careful attention paid to the selection of materials - from low-emission concrete to the highest-quality glass.
The Ronald McDonald House is at the heart of the foundation’s new mission under the slogan “Family Stays.” The activities of the Ronald McDonald House Poland foundation are transforming the existing approach to caring for a sick child, emphasising that the family are not just visitors, but also an integral part of the treatment process and the most important driving force behind recovery. Allowing parents and siblings to be present with the young patient on a daily basis helps to reduce the trauma associated with a hospital stay, provides the child with a sense of security, and leads to, as clinically proven, a better response to their treatment. By building Ronald McDonald Houses, the foundation ensures that loved ones can stay together no matter what.
As the organisers point out, interest in the tournament is growing year by year, offering the Polish real estate industry an excellent opportunity both for team building and for taking real-life initiatives for the common good.
