Romanian developer Iulius will develop a new residential building in Iași, close to Palas Campus office project, based on the architectural complex designed by UNStudio.

The project was selected by a jury comprising five architects and a historian. There were four design solutions submitted by international architecture firms. Aside from UNStudio, Foster+Partners, MVRDV and Zaha Hadid Architects also made complex designs for the new investment planned by Iulius.

“We have studied very, very hard to create a project that observes the city monuments. I hope you will support our vision, because we were very excited to work on this project. We have brought a very sustainable project for the city, but also for future generations, and we are very honored to be part of this endeavor,” said Arjan Dingsté, Director and Senior Architect UNStudio.

Meanwhile, Raluca Munteanu, Iulius’ Development Manager, said that the developer started three years ago to plan the architectural competition.

“The finalization of this competition is the first phase, and what follows now is the normal course of a development, namely the endorsement, authorization, and public consultation phases, which will result in the final project,” said Munteanu.

This will be Iulius’ first residential investment in Iași. The company is also looking to include apartments in its planned mixed-use scheme in Cluj-Napoca.
