GTC’s latest development, GTC White House has achieved the highest, Platinum certification level under the LEED for Building Design and Construction rating scheme. As of today, this is the second office building which was awarded with this certification in Budapest. The certification process was advised by Colliers International Hungary’s Green Building Advisory Team.

GTC White House was developed on the site of the 100-year-old former Schleck Elevator Factory, the building has been refurbished and provides 2,000 sqm of redeveloped office space in addition to 19,500 sqm of new offices.

“The site selection itself was a sustainable choice as a former brownfield area has been redeveloped to a modern Class A office building. Built on the Váci Corridor, GTC White House has excellent public transportation opportunities within a short walking distance, complemented by a bicycle lane passing by the building. Plenty of bicycle racks, common area showers and changing rooms serve the needs of environmentally conscious employees as well as electric car chargers for the growing number of electric car owners. A large green roof, rainwater harvesting for flushing toilets, a high efficiency HVAC system, good thermal isolation, and above average volumes of fresh air to the occupants are among the many factors that contributed to this certification,” explained Norbert Szircsák, Senior Associate of Colliers Green Building Advisory Services.

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a globally recognized and acknowledged certification system, which takes sustainable aspects into consideration during the valuation of properties.

The certifications issued by the U.S. Green Building Council examines the property’s location, efficiency of water and energy consumption; materials and resources alongside with built-in innovative technologies an indoor air quality.
