Construction has begun on the region's newest Stop Shop retail park in the city centre of Salgótarján, Hungary. The project is developed by CPI Hungary.
The building, spanning over 7,500 sqm, will house 12 stores, including well-known brands such as Euronics, dm, Ecofamily, Háda, Retro and DRK (Dorko). Retro and DRK will open their first stores in the city, bringing something new to locals. Visitors will enjoy spacious parking, bicycle storage, electric car charging facilities and restrooms, making the retail park easily accessible by car, bicycle or public transport.
Family-friendly design plays an important role: a playground will be built on the Stop Shop site, offering pleasant recreation for families, while parking areas and pedestrian paths will be barrier-free, with spacious areas and green spaces providing a friendly, organised environment.
The investment follows environmental principles. The building will feature energy-efficient heating and lighting, low water consumption equipment, sustainable waste management, and renewable energy solutions, ensuring long-term environmentally conscious operation.
"Extensive preparatory work and thorough research preceded the Salgótarján Stop Shop project, so we are particularly pleased that implementation can now begin. This is a significant development for the city and the region, as excellent tenants are arriving who will bring new colour to Salgótarján's commercial life. We are already looking forward to the opening with great anticipation," said Balázs Sipos, Senior Retail Asset Manager at CPI Hungary. The retail park is expected to create nearly 100 jobs, and the developer, together with KÉSZ Építő és Szerelő Zrt., is paying special attention to giving local contractors opportunities during implementation.
