tbi bank is introducing a grace period of up to two months for eligible property developers affected by the disruption to the land registry system following a recent cyberattack. The outage has prevented property transactions from being completed and related funds from being collected, placing temporary pressure on developers' cash flows.
Under the measure, which applies only while the land registry system remains unavailable, eligible tbi bank clients may defer repayments on existing loans for property development projects by up to two months. Interest accrued during this period will be added to the outstanding principal and repaid at the loan's final maturity date.
"The current disruption has temporarily halted transactions and delayed developers' cash inflows for reasons entirely unrelated to their operations or financial strength. In challenging situations such as this, our role as a financing partner is to stand by our clients, as we have always done," said Alexandru Cosma, VP Banking for Partners at tbi bank.
Requests will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, taking into account each client's financial position and repayment history. The deferral will be granted through an addendum to the existing loan agreement, and eligible clients may contact their tbi bank representative to submit a request.
tbi bank operates in Romania, Bulgaria, Greece and Germany. Through digital channels and partnerships with over 38,000 merchant stores, the bank serves 2.7 million clients and issued over 1 million loans in 2025.
