Marriott International has signed an agreement with Forestay Group to debut the Moxy Hotels brand in Budapest. Construction is predicted to begin this autumn, with the opening expected in 2025.

Moxy Budapest Downtown is expected to offer 280 guestrooms. The design is set to include buzzing public social spaces, featuring an industrial chic look combined with bold programming, inspired by the hotel’s locale and communal tables offering plenty of opportunities to plug and play and embrace today’s young-at-heart traveller. Plans call for a stylish lobby with various hangout spaces, and a bar that also acts as check-in and grab-and-go food options.

Situated in the heart of downtown Budapest, the new build hotel will sit ideally on Kazinczy Street, at the centre of the bustling nightlife and entertainment district. Several cultural attractions are within a short walking distance, including the Opera House, St. Stephen’s Basilica and Gozsdu Passage.

“From the very beginning when we purchased the site, we had the idea that a Moxy brand would be the ideal fit for this location because it perfectly matches the DNA of the 7th district neighbourhood of Budapest. The area is globally known to be the centre of tourism, gastronomy, entertainment, and culture in the Hungarian capital” said Bálint Botos, Managing Partner of the developer Forestay Group.

“I believe Moxy Budapest Downtown will mesh well with the urban vibe of the area and will be a great addition to the hotel market. I feel such a concept is currently missing from Budapest“ said Péter Németh, Managing Partner of Forestay.
