The Mlynské nivy bus station is the main bus terminal in Bratislava. The spacious station has now entered a reconstruction, with HB Reavis' goal to optimise its area and adapt it to real transport requirements, reports Yimba.sk.
The bus station, completed and opened in 2022, is part of the Nivy mall shopping centre connected to the Nivy Tower office building. In addition to the station hall, the terminal consisted of 36 platforms, 7 exits and 86 bus stands with facilities for buses and carriers, a gas station, an automatic car wash, a bus service centre, a maintenance section for cleaning and waxing buses, and housing for drivers.
However, after several years, according to the developer, it became clear that the station was far from being fully utilised, while the volume of bus traffic continued to decline. In practice, problems with access to the platforms and cooling also emerged, as the huge space is difficult to air-condition, especially in summer. The Nivy Center has therefore announced that it will soon implement significant changes.
These consist of reducing the station's space by approximately a third. The acquired space will be used for new shops and services for visitors.
