In 2024, PSN will begin a two-year reconstruction of the famous functionalist building in the centre of Pardubice. The first republican Grand Hotel, which served as a shopping centre for over 20 years, will now be transformed into a modern shopping centre with full preservation of the original legacy of the architect Gočár. The renovation is expected to cost €12.331 million, PSN estimates.

Developer UDI Group will launch a residential development in Prague directly opposite the Lužiny metro station. With an investment of more than CZK 1.3 billion (€52.6 million), two apartment buildings will be built here to complement the shopping centre, in line with the original plan from the 1980s. 

The Ritz-Carlton luxury hotel, which is to be built in the heart of Prague after the renovation of eight historic buildings, and was delayed is now moving forward again. The long-planned construction of a five-star hotel was supposed to be completed last year, but the new completion date is now set for 2025 at the earliest. The reconstruction will also include 26 apartments for long-term rent, writes E15.cz.

Two large railway stations in Prague are about to be modernised. After Masarycka station, Czech national railway infrastructure manager (SŽ – Správa železnic) is now looking for a construction contractor for the Prague-Smíchov station as well. The result will be wholly modernised tracks and platforms, extended underpasses under the whole station, and a new footbridge leading over the station and allowing barrier-free access to individual platforms. The construction implementation will take place between 2024 and 2027, the total cost amounts to CZK 5.2 billion (€215 million), says SŽ in a press release.

YIT is the new owner of the Kuta Centrum office complex in Prague 4. In the future, the complex, renamed YIT Office Centrum, should be transformed into a residential complex, the CEO of YIT told online daily newstream.cz.

Správa železnic (Railway Administration) has announced a tender for a contractor who will reconstruct Prague's oldest train station - Masarykovo nádraží - for CZK 3.2 billion (€134.6 million). The idea of the authority is that the contractor should be able to connect the historical spaces with contemporary architecture and at the same time that the comfort for passengers and trains should be significantly increased, according to the report by the Správa železnic.

Bratislava's socialist hotel will be transformed into a multifunctional building with office space and apartments. Its redevelopment is now planned by the developer Imoba fin, writes the Slovak daily Hospodárské noviny. However, further details regarding the price and timetable have not yet been revealed.

Prague's famous brutalist-style Intercontinental Hotel is undergoing a complete renovation. After the reconstruction, the hotel will operate with sustainability principles and will become part of the Fairmont chain, the daily E15.cz reports without mentioning the price of the planned reconstruction.

Wood & Company is starting to improve its Aupark shopping centre in Bratislava. It plans to expand it with three more retail units and open the space to other global brands, startitup.sk reports.

Obermeyer Helika, a design and construction consultancy firm, has completed its work as general designer for the redevelopment of part of the former Světovar brewery in Pilsen. The TechTower Technology Park, which was built there, is open from 1 February 2023 to those interested in innovative entrepreneurship and offers unique spaces for technology enthusiasts, start-ups and experienced entrepreneurs.
